Advantages: Everything you want on a phone with a low low price. Battery lasts pretty good too!

Disadvantages: Keypad... keypad keypad...

On the N78 for about three months now. Here are my thoughts...

First off, the outside. All wonderful, curved edges and everything looks futuristic. It really stands out among the crowd. The N78 puts every other mobile phone to shame with it's really good looks as the uninterrupted lines reminds you of the flowing lines of a sports car. Held in the hand, the phone feels reassuringly weighty but not heavy enough to be a problem.

At the price point that this phone is going at, the number of functions are really impressive. There is Wifi (for all those free skype calls), GPS (when lost in the dark) plus the wow factor of having an FM transmitter makes this phone really well rounded. A 950 mAh battery gives you enough juice to go through a full day with no problems.

Using it, however, might a slight problem for those with big hands. The aesthetically pleasing keypad becomes the practically useless piece of flat plastic on the phone. The keypad is fine enough for people with small hands, but the function keys are just horrible! Sometimes the top right function key freezes. Sometimes the green button freezes. Maybe I am just not pressing it right but tell me that after pressing it 10 times and not getting any response is not a freeze. The joystick is also a love and hate thing. The quick scroll function allows you to scroll through lists and is really useful in a playlist. However, it doesn't work everywhere (would be nice if it worked in Maps) and sometimes you inadvertently scroll through something when you just want to press the joystick. I also found that they centre press is not so easy to do with gloves as you normally end up with a direction press. Must say it is the best and the worst joystick I have found on a Nokia.

Running things on a Nokia has never been more fun. I can happily run five applications all at one time and they will not hang on me. I'm glad to say that the memory problem seems to have been solved unless you go onto huge webpages. The FM transmitter works a treat. The gps seems to lock on a bit slower than other Nokia phones but I am not fussed.

If you are prepared to put up with the horrible keypad and are in love with the looks of the phone. Plus the fact that you get lots of function with very little money. I think this is the phone for you!

Summary: Put up with the niggles and you will have a phone with a good feature set!

Nicely written and some good stuff here. I just wonder if you could tell us a bit more about how you found this worked as a phone.
