A good but occasionally unreliable phone
Member Name: sazbag
Advantages: Fantastic quality, good for daily tasks and more
Disadvantages: Not very reliable, crashing camera, use of "N-gage" gaming, rubbish battery life
The Nokia N85 is really media focused- so its especially good for playing music, games and taking videos; with the added advantage of being able to call and text people too.
For your general daily tasks of calling and texting- it does a good job. And most of your extra features it performs just aswell. Music, pictures, videos and games are of fantastic quality.
My issues are with the battery, camera, games and internet though. If you play a solid hour of music for example (equal to a reasonable bus journey home) the life is literally sucked out of the phone- even if you started with a full battery- this is the same i you have a good gaming session. The battery doesn't seem to cope very well with all these lovely features its been blessed with.
I also had issues with the camera- if you can actually get it to work, it takes fantastic pictures and video. But I often found the camera crashes and you'll need to reset the phone in order to use it again, if you actually still want to take a picture it sometimes needs resetting 3 or 4 times.
The games use "N-gage" which you have to connect to via internet in order to download games- you don't need to be connect to play them unless you have downloaded a game where you play other people from all over the world. This really annoyed me- as I'm not a hardcore gamer, and its nice to be able to play a game occasionally to pass the time. The phone comes with no games whatsoever- and you have to pay for any you want to download- most will let you have a trial- but its usually not worth it. Its nice to have the option to play at least snake for free!
I also found the internet hard to navigate- but I always find they are a bit rubbish on my mobiles without a full keyboard
Despite all these niggly little problems- I wouldn't change my lovely little nokia- the problems it has don't really affect me as I'm not a hardcore gamer, I'm not a keen photographer and I don't need or want to use the internet on my phone- but it can occasionally be frustrating, so if you are looking into this phone because of its all singing and dancing features I would look elsewhere.
Summary: A good phone- not so good mp3 player/internet browser/camera though
