Advantages: The Camera, The Features, The Gaming, The Memory, The Battery Life
Disadvantages: The Price, The Loading Time, The Crashes
The Nokia N95 8GB is quite simply a very advanced piece of kit. Nokia really have come out with a winner here, this phone is pound for pound the best phone on the market! I have had the phone for over 6 months and have never had a problem with it.
Like most Nokia phones, this can take a beating and still be able to function properly. I myself have dropped this a few too many times, thinking that I would break it, but to my amazement all the phone has is a smudge on the back. This phone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and infrared so any connections is catered for.
It would be hard not to call this a pint sized PC, the ability to add new programs to its operating system is what sets the N95 apart from the rival mobiles. Nokia have put a lot of thought into the multimedia capabilities of this phone, it has real player pre installed with the firmwre, so most files can be played effortlessly.
The core features of a mobile have come packed into this N95 as standard, as well as been developed further. This would be an ideal business phone, the ability to hold a call to answer the other is quite spectacular as provides relief. The 5 MP Camera is very cleverly designed, with Carl Zeiss Optics and autofocus a standard feature, this phone doubles as a digital camera. When comparing it to a friend's LG Viewty, I was surprised that the N95 came out on top.
Nokia have also revived the Ngage brand to bring to the current series, meaning you can buy games to play on the move. I was impressed with the gaming capabilities of this phone. Playing FIFA 08 on it is like playing it on the Nintendo DS. Nokia have borrowed the scoring system off the Xbox 360 system, where gamers score Ngage points for completing various achievements.
The included 8 GB SD Card built into the phone will ensure you can store all of your pictures, videos and music onto the phone. It is very hard to fill this much space up on a phone. Included in the packaging is a cable that can be used to connect the N95 into your TV, so if you have been sent a really funny video from the office, showing it your family has never been easier.
I must admit that the price is very steep, but you can easily get a N95 on contract. Another disadvantage is the loading time of the phone, if you have a lot of stuff on it; you will find that the phone may take a minute or so to load up after you turn it on. This can be very annoying if you need to access a phone number quickly or need to send an urgent text. Sometimes if you have a lot of applications the phone may lock, but that can be passed off as a lack of system resources available to the phone.
The battery life is very impressive, mine can go over 2 days without charging on standard use (phoning and texting), and this is very impressive for a phone that has so many features and such a small battery.
Summary: It would be hard to find anything close to the Nokia N95 8Gb, apart from its successor. Top Notch

- 14/12/08 A really nicely done review which for me, is only missing a tiny bit of information about the calling sound quality. |
