Advantages: Amazing camera quality

Disadvantages: Speed of running is dramitcally slowed by lots of content

As a Sony Ericsson devotee for the last 3-4 years before I got this phone, when my phone contract was up for renewal I'm not sure what made me choose the N95 8GB.

I'd heard a few good whispers about it and read a few good reviews...but I'm very shallow with things like this and usually like to own whatever phone is considered "in" at the moment. The N95 8GB was definitely "in" when I got it in June 08 - and I have never looked back since the day I opened that black Nokia box.

I'm a sucker for a big old brick of a phone, and this one fits the bill. Don't be under any illusions that this will be a sleek little phone, because the 8GB storage rules this out immediately. I like a weighty phone, a phone with substance, I've never been one for a half a millimetre thick feather light little speck of a handset. Asthetics wise, I also love the way the keypad slides down from the main screen and the MP3 player controls slides up from the main screen when push the other way. The screen is large, great for web browsing, picture viewing etc, and with a simple flick of the slide pad upwards (exposing the MP3 control buttons) the screen switches to horizontal view - making it even easier to view web pages.

Personally, the buttons are a good size for me (I like having a proper keypad, I find touchscreens very fiddly), have never had any gripes with them.

The thing that impresses me the most is the camera quality. This phone has a 5MP camera, somewhat of a rarity even on most of todays newly released phones. Carl Zeiss optics and an excellent zoom function and second only to the flash quality of the phone. I can use the flash on this phone to take pics in nightclubs and my pics are still amazing quality for a mobile picture.

Although I've never used it as such, apparently this phone is made with the gamer in mind. The games available for the Nokia store are endless and the flip screen illustrates and highlights the ease of gaming on this little handset.

Have never had trouble with the reception capabilty of the phone. However the biggest downside of it, and this is something I have heard other N95 8GB owners complain about too is how slowly the phone will run when holding a lot of music files, pictures and text messages. I usually find that emptying my text inbox (often of 1000+ messages at a time) much improves this though.

Overall a fantastic phone that I have no desire to be rid of yet, 14 months down the line. Recommended.

Summary: Fabulous little phone, will impress both the hardcore and the sometimes phone user
