Advantages: A brilliant Camera, GPS, lots of multimedia features
Disadvantages: Sluggish, poor battery life, fragile
So here it is- the inevitable; the rival to the iphone. The chunkier, heavier, yet feature-packed Nokia N95. What Nokia has attempted to do here is make what appears to be a dummy run version of a potentially very successful phone for the future.
So let's begin with the good stuff, namely the features and specifications. The N95 provides their user with a top quality Carl Zeiss 5 mega pixel camera. Of course, this camera is no way near as top quality as a digital camera built only for the purpose of taking photos; nonetheless it is possibly the best camera-phone on the market at the minute. Incidentally I was surprisingly shocked with the how good the quality of pictures were I took, especially in the night. Indeed, I didn't have much to compare the N95 to; being a previous owner of the LG Chocolate, but nevertheless they were of exceptional quality for a phone. The camera does compensate for the size, I have to admit!
The camera isn't the only flashy element to this phone; Nokia has also incorporated a GPS Satellite Navigation tool, which works just like a real Satellite Navigation system. So, I would save your pennies from buying a Tom-Tom and just buy the N95 which has basically everything! The N95 also has a media player that syncs with Windows Media Player- and of course courtesy of Nokia for all the Moby lovers out there- the N95 comes equipped with the soundtrack to their advertisement; "In My Heart". The N95 provides a gallery of fantastic multimedia features including the web, galleries and video recorder; all of which will guarantee to provide you with entertainment on those rainy days.
Now, to highlight some of the snags the N95 possesses. Battery life on any feature filled phone is shockingly abysmal. In the hope of escaping the battery life woes of the LG Chocolate, I was thrilled to receive the N95, only to find two days after charging it- the N95 begged for a recharge. This though, is a very common flaw with any phone that has a lot going on. Secondly, the N95 is somewhat of a sluggish phone. As so much is going, the N95 takes it time processing your demands. Lastly, the biggest problem I have encountered is its fragility. After a week of having the phone, I come home one night only to realise the N95 has an internal crack- one which prevented me from reading my text messages clearly. It appears that this phone cannot take clumsiness, and being put in areas which may be prone to pressure (for example a jeans pocket) - so be warned! O2, nevertheless, provided me with a replacement.
To conclude, the N95 is a fantastic, yet sensitive phone. It is fit for business usage, and will guarantee the user of a fun filled experience. The major issues with this phone are its sluggishness, sensitivity and fragility, nevertheless if kept happy- this phone will make wonders- some may say better than an iphone!
Summary: A fantastic fun filled phone, but also a very sensitive and sluggish one!

TheChocolateLady - 09.02.08 Welcome to DooYoo. You write very nicely and there's potential here. I'm just wondering if you couldn't have said more about how this works as a phone. This review doesn't really say much about that at all, so it wasn't very useful to me. |
