I have such conflicting feelings about this phone, but overall, im happy with it and what it does. Towards the end of my last phone contract with TMobile, rather then renewing, i thought id look around for a better deal. After some looking around online and wandering in the shops, i decided on the N96. I wanted something i could sync my emails/calendar etc to and something with a decent camera and usable web browser. Got a very good deal with Vodafone and i went home happy. The specs on the phone are very impressive; - 5 Megapixel camera - 16GB internal memory with a Micro SD slot to add an additional ... I've always been one to get the latest gadgets, I when this was announced I could honestly say I was excited for a bit of technology. I previously owned the N95, and was solely dissapointed when the 8GB version came out when I was only about 6months into my contract. The N96 is great on paper, a range of features ranging from the usefull to the useless (mainly being MobileTV which isn't available in the UK). The user experience is much different however. I had problems with the OS, and like the N95, felt very unfinished, running very slow and occasionally crashing while I was asleep. This was fixed partially by the updates which have to be downloaded through ... Read the complete review

The Nokia N96 is a smartphone released by Nokia in 2008, and is the mobile phone that i currently own. The feature list is impressive, with a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, an 8GB hard drive with expandable flash memory, superb video features, a very clear large screen and decent musical capability. Add in WiFi, world maps, decent internet browsing, the very good BBC iPlayer app and with all the standard features you'd expect, and you end up with a good phone. And that's really all it is. I'll try to explain. The camera is excellent quality, with a good flash. Yet when taking photos you have to press and hold the take picture button for a ... Read the complete review

BACKGROUND: I admit, I was in 'hate mode' when I judged the N95 8GB (direct link at the bottom) on here, mainly because: - contact groups, faces on contacts and text messages in folders could not be transferred (third party software will let you sort the messages out) - Calls could not be 'hung up' by sliding the phone closed - Can be slightly slow processing (prep'ing for a picture, checking messages, etc.) However, after living with it for nearly a year and a half and once the teething problems were gone, it was a pretty good phone. Excellent picture/video quality (Sony eric are better though), Mapping software was ... Read the complete review

I upgraded to this mobile from the Nokia N95 8gb which I loved as I wanted the extra storage capacity (16gb) that the N96 offers. First impressions upon opening the box was how sleek and slick this phone feels in the hand, it is slimmer and more rounded to the N95 series and the slider has a very satisfying gliding and snicking into place action. It took me a few days to get used to using it as some of the applications are in different folders and the buttons are flush with the phones surface which looks very posh but can make texting a bit more hit and miss if you don't have nimble fingers! Battery life is reasonable for a smart phone, I ... Read the complete review
