Advantages: Looks so pweety
Disadvantages: As with all technology a few problems
Having only 3 months left on my contract I decided I would upgrade my phone from my existing Blackberry 8120. Having done my research I decided of one of three, either a blackberry curve, iphone or nokia n97. The iphone was ruled out when I looked at o2s tariffs, so was between the other two, and on appearance the nokia won.
I checked the orange website and the n97 is listed as coming soon, but was available on the Orange network in Phones4u. So I went to the Phones4 u shop and after them doing a quick check on my contract banding (aparantly this goes off how much you pay each month etc and affects what contract and how much you pay for the phone) I was told I was entitled to the phone for free on a £40 a month contract.
I decided on the white n97 as I think it looked like a miniature version of my white sony laptop and I like everything to match :) The phone itself was quite easy to set up, I did have a few issues trying to work out how to take the back off but im not a particulary gadget friendly person. Once you first turn it on I managed to navigate my way through the applications and settings quite easily, setting up an email account and more importantly sorting out the widget (yep that is a real word) for facebook.
The n97 has both a touch screen and a qwerty keypad which slides out from under the screen, having used a blackberry before I was familiar with using qwerty rather than a regular phone keypad but im sure for some people it may take a bit of getting used to.
The phone has a 5mpixal camera which I find to be really good, you can also take pictures using the second cam which is located on the front designed for use during video calls.
I have to say the battery life isnt amazing but I am a serial texter and facebooker which I think is probably the main reason. I just charge it daily and I have no problems then.
The main features I use this phone for is facebook and texting so I've not really experimented too much with the others. The internet is super quick compared to my old phone which is great to use the youtube application. Having 32gb of memory also meant I could put all of my music on the phone as well as pictures and videos.
In the box you get some headphones, a pen to use on the touch screen, usb lead, cd for the pc software, charger, and a screen wipe.
As I said im not a technically minded person so would be copying and pasting if I was to list all the features but from my point of view it is a great phone. Not only does it look great it has a mountain of features I am slowly making my way through.
I did have a small problem which has meant im on my 2nd n97 after only a week, after the screen kept freezing the phone completely freaked out (yes that is a technical term lol) and I had to take it back to the shop for an exchange....but so far after updating new software on my new n97 I have not as yet (touch wood) had any problems.
Summary: A phone perfect for those a bit style conscious
