Advantages: Nice design, ease of use

Disadvantages: Slow, Full of bugs, rushed phone.

Due to my loyalty to Vodafone and as a Die hard Nokia user I had to have this phone (only because the Iphone 3Gs wasn't available with Vodafone until next year-Didn't know this at the time)

First of all I was pretty excited about getting this but that soon changed when I switched it on. The phone itself looks great and the slideout pad is excellent(apart from some of the layout).

I'll just come out and say it is a very buggy phone and should never have been rushed and released . The new V20 Firmware has solved a few bugs like, hanging at every application you execute, touch screen seems more responsive and most menus and options now have kinetic scrolling.

A couple days after I got it I debranded it and that removed some of the bloatware and now have upgraded the firmware. i'm not sure i this invalidates warranty though.

The slide out pad is very conveniant and easy to use but I do think the layout could have been a bit better.

The camera is not so great, I also the N95 and N95 8GB and they use the same camera but the N97 seems a bit worse than the N95, I really couldn't see much difference in the videos though.

Ovi store is very much in the early stages so is not a patch on the Itunes store but it's still ok

Applications are getting released every day but will probably never catch up with the amount the Iphone has. A couple of my favourites for the N97 would 'VBAG' which plays gameboy advance games, Opera Mini as it's a really good browser which does not use as much data as the standard one.


If i'm being perfectly honest the novelty of the N97 wore of very fast and is actually quite a slow phone. As soon as the Iphone hits Vodafone this will be getting sold and the Iphone bought.

Summary: Ok phone but would have much preferred an Iphone
