Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not a particularly nice handset
I have got rid of my old C12, but spent a long time using it and still see them on sale every now and again. When I got my phone it was free for signing up for a credit card, but they tend to cost about £40 when you see them. They tend to be on fairly cheap tarrifs - for example I used to pay 5 pence per text message on my pay as you go scheme. The calls were quite expensive, but that`s the price you pay :-) The phone itself looks very dated these days - you can tell it`s been out for a long time. It has a huge antenna just stciking out the top crying to get snapped off in a pocket - or even worse to jab you in an area you`d rather not get jabbed. The menu structure is appauling, mainly due to the small screen size. The different sections of the menu are picked by moving left and right, and pressing down to select an option. It is a very inefficient way to do things. One small feature that you might appreciate is the ability to add little icons to the end of your text messages. If you send them to someone with a C12 they`ll see the same icon as you. If they don`t have a C12 then they`ll just see something that looks like the icon - for example if you send a smiley face to someone who doesn`t have the phone it comes out like ":-)" at the end of the message. The text message editor does not have rpedictive messaging, which just means it takes much longer to enter a message. The battery life is reasonable - I tend to get 3-4 days out of the phone. I still use the phone on occasion now - when I go on holiday abroad I take it with me. I`m not too bothered if it goes missing for any reason, it works everywhere I`ve ever taken it and it only costs 5 pence to send a text message back t the UK.
