The C12 epitemises cheap and cheerful mobile phones. Coming in at less than £40 it's a fantastic little phone for the money. The Philips C12, for its price is surprisingly small and light (It's quite deep, but smaller than a Nokia 5110 and about the same weight). The battery life provided is also not bad, giving several days standby and several hours talktime. All the normal features are included which you'd expect such as: text messaging, voice mail, etc etc.

It's not a bad looking phone, but the screen is quite small and it's hard to fit much text on it which makes reading text messages very hard indeed, plus, the menu system is a pain to use compared to more expensively priced phones such as the Nokia 5110 or 3210. It has a built in game, calculator etc as well to keep you amused but that's really all you get for your money (As if all of this wasn't enought for £40!)

The C12 is available on several different tariffs on BT Cellnet Prepay (BT has good reception and coverage, but poor customer service):

No Limits: This is the best one. 35p per minute peak, 10 per minute off peak (standard calls, mobiles calls are different) 10p texts and no time limit on vouchers. £5 worth of vouchers are included if you buy the phone on this tariff.

Best Friend: 500 minutes a month free, to a landline number of your choice, as long as you top up £10 every 30 days. Peak and off peak calls are charged at 35p per minute at all times I believe. (If you don't top up this often you lose your best friend, you have to top up every 60 days to stay connected)

U: The worst. 35p per minute flat rate, top up £15 every 90 days to stay connected. However, it's cheap to call between other U mobiles and texts between them are cheap to - so this maybe a good one for a young couple to have.

To summarise, it's a fantastic phone for the money, and you really can't beat this for value. It&#
39;s easy to use, reliable, quite tough and very cheap. Plus, it's better looking than its rivals in this price bracket.
