I bought this phone a couple of months ago, in the misguided belief that it was better than my trusty Nokia 5146, which I have had over 2 years. So money in hand I dived into Dixons, not a sensible choice from what I have read, but anyway I handed over the princely sum of £29.99 and walked away with my new Philips Savvy on the orange pay as you go tariff. Once home I ripped open the box to see a levely metallic blue phone, about 5 inches in length and just short of 2 inches wide. The ariel is fixed and protrudes about 1 inch above the phone. The keypad has the usual numbers/text buttons and hash and star key. There are also 5 other buttons, a menu ... Read the complete review

I've just started a new job, it means that I have to spend quite some time each day travelling. So it seemed a logical move to get a new mobile phone, the deciding factor above all else was cost. As it would be an emergency phone I wanted one that would be cheap to run, you can of course get phones for 'nothing' these days, you just have to pay through the nose to keep it going so I wanted a pay as you go scheme. For my area, Salisbury, the network with the best coverage was Orange (at least it was when we bought our other mobile). As anyone who has been to Salisbury recently knows there are hundreds of mobile phone shops everywhere (at least a ... Read the complete review

The Phillips Savvy is an ideal mobile for someone who’s not going to use or wave it around much but are looking for some style and value. You can get a pay as you go Savvy with Orange or Cellnet between 30 and forty quid on the high street with charger and presentation box.I bought mine from The Link on the Cellnet network which included a free five pounds worth of calls. Woolworths are offering it with both Orange and Cellnet at great prices,if you go with Cellnet you get an option of a free Olympus camera or an aquatic radio and watch pack.Great deals aimed at the females species. It’s a nice rounded shape and light to the hand and not overly ... Read the complete review

A couple of months ago I decided I should join the mobile revolution and decided upon this model. I didn't want to spend loads of money on a phone and this was a snip at £40 with £5 free credit and a free watch included, I also got a hands-off kit and a case at reduced prices, which although I hardly use them, are good quality and good to have. Anyway, back to the phone. It is a stylish light-weight phone, which in my case is blue with a black back and battery. The battery hours are good with 120 standby hours and 4 talk-time hours from a full battery. the battery takles about 2 or 3 hours to recharge when fully depleted but I like to leave it for about 6 ... (Title to be sung to the opening bars of the Tiny Toons cartoon theme....) The other day I was slouching around in Tesco's (as is my wont) and noticed that they were selling a basic pay-as-you-go mobile (a Philips Trium, I think) for the princely sum of £45. It's not often you get prices like that now that the manufacturers have dropped their subsidy and hiked up their prices to the point where a really rather ordinary phone can cost £100. (Could the recent explosion in phone theft possibly have anything to do with this? I think so. And now that BT are phasing out phonecards, which were an excellent compromise for younger children, things can only get ... Read the complete review
