Advantages: long battery life, cheap, lightweight
Disadvantages: terrible menus, can't unlock
Top criticism of the Sagem MYX5m is that the menus and navigation are simply poorly designed. At times it looks like they weren't even designed at all. For example: To add a new phone number. Go to the phonebook. I see something like this: Sarah Tom Phonebook Options Alice Bart What a stupid idea! Scroll through the my friends names looking for "Phonebook Options". Doh! When I go back to using a Nokia I notice straightaway that the menu is so much easier to use. All praise to Nokia programmers. Poor point: Low screen res. -- it has a definite chunky pixel look. Poor point: Like other phones the main page shows the network name "T-moblie" in large letters. Like that is useful information for me... how about showing "8:34am"! that would be useful. Good point: Long battery life. Good point: Small and lightweight. Feels nice it my pocket. Good point: friendly in a quirky menu way. Good point: (quasi) polyphonic ringing - so my phone moos like a cow whenever it rings. Though i don't believe its real polyphonic -- the ring sound quality really isn't very good. Very good point: Speaker phone. Just press the green button during a call. Poor point: Currently (summer 2003) it isn't possible to unlock these phones. I'm stuck with t-mobile, who fortunately seem to be fine.
