Great for talking and texts, It has a VGA camera, however this is very poor quality, so much so that it is basically unusable. So, if you are buying this for the use of a camera, then I would recommend not buying this and searching for something else. It does also come with a video recording software, however as it runs off the same camera, it is also next to useless.
However, it had MP3 player and FM radio. The storage for MP3 is pretty poor but the FM radio is pretty good quality. And, on a plus it comes with headphones, so you don't need to go out and buy any extra ones. They are reasonable comfortable aswell.
However, I think one of the biggest pros of this phone is the amazing battery life. I opened it on christas day and I only needed to charge it a few days ago. Therefore, it lasted 10 days without needing charging... which is really helpful. Although, I am not a big phone user so it might not last that long if you are on it all of the time.
It is very lightweight and user friendly. I didn't even need to open the instructions to be able to work the phone, which is one of the perks of having a simpler phone.
Overall, if you are just using it for phone calls and texts then it is pefect, it does exactly what it says on the tin. However, if you are looking for something more complex then steer clear of this one.
But, because I have an Ipod touch with app software, I do not need anything more than this and thus find it 100% helpful.
It also has verying functions for texting. Predictive and non, numerical and capitals. So, if your not good with predictive text you can click off the function and use it as a very simple texting device. Contacts are easy to add.
The games are not very good, and only trial games. You play about 2 minutes then it asks you to pay for the full version. Therefore, once again it is only really great for texting and phoning.
The Samsung E2121 is a simplistic black coloured 'candy-bar' brick phone, which means it doesn't slide out to reveal the keypad, that is both affordable and easy to use.
As a student, I wasn't interested in purchasing and expensive and/or elaborate phone. All I really need is to be able to make and receive calls and to send the occasional text. The Samsung E2121 does just that.
It is lightweight, weighing only 74g, which adds to its efficient, simplistic nature. As well as this, the battery life is considerable and according to other reviews I read when researching this particular phone, it rates high amongst all phones. The phone is slim, unoffensive in appearance, but not necessarily something to brag about amongst your friends.
Features include a 0.3Mp camera, a music player, an FM radio, and microSD slot (which is is an expansion slot on a mobile phone that allows you to increase its memory). However, because its low and convenient price, the quality of these features is not necessarily outstanding, but still good value for money. Admittedly the features are limited and there are not hundreds of them like you may have come to expect from your mobile phone nowadays, but this explained in the cheapness of the mobile and so you get what you pay for.
As for connectivity with your laptop/computer or the internet, the Samsung E2121 includes, Bluetooth technology, GPRS technology (which is a method of enhancing 2G phones to enable them to send and receive data more rapidly), and a USB connection port. All 3 of these options are easy to get to grips with, and are thoroughly explained in the instruction manual. This makes it possible to put images from your phone onto your laptop for example, or to exchange or synchronize data between Bluetooth enabled computers and devices.
*** CONCLUSION ***
Overall, the phone is definitely good value for money and would be perfect as a child's first phone or as a gift to a older person less successful with technology. For me, its an excellent, cheap phone that is totally convenient and has a great battery life. Of course there are many other different phones that I could have bought, for a much heftier price, with better features and better quality, but for those of use with little dispensable cash, this was an excellent alternative.
Plus : Good price, smart look, long battery life, has a good MP3 player (sound quality is also good), light weight, great if you buy a SIM free handset.
Minus : Screen resolution is low, computer data cable is not supplied with the phone (and you should also buy a memory card to use the MP3 player effectively). The instruction manual is pathetic!
All in all, it is a reliable and good looking mobile phone for the price. It does not have a lot of features but good for basic use (phoning, texting and listening to music) and a good value for money. It is easy to use (though the instruction manual is very confusing and not for non techie people like me). Battery life is also really good. Radio works with or without a headset. It comes with a basic camera. Don't forget to buy a memory card and data cable with the phone.
I'm not sure if I could say overall if this is a good phone or not.
It's made entirely out of plastic which makes it look quite cheap but the colours of the exterior seem to somehow keep it looking stylish.
Unlike alot of cheap phones, this one has a camera! It's not too bad either, the screen resolution is quite low which makes all pictures seem abit dull though.
A strange but positive thing for me at the time was that the phone had internet access included with the package, but it does not contain a 3G therefore it is so slow its probably not even worth having.
For the money its very good and whoever buys a phone at this price probably doesnt want it for any hardcore onstant internet browsing so for what it is I would say its great for the money.
You can buy extra memory sticks and expand its memory quite unlimited so you can use it for alot of song and video storage aswell. You do get headphones with it but quite flimsy cheap ones so you'd have to find other ones if your fussy that have a 3.5mm.
It's definitely not for me though.
The Samsung E2121 is a cheap phone with decent features but is it worth buying in the 1st place, lets find out.
The phone can be purchased from £7.95 plus top-up (depending on network) from many high street retailers. It has bluetooth, mp3 player, memory card support and even a camera.
The phone design is bar form and not really a looker, weights a bit but it is very durable. The screen is really small and the quality is bad with poor colours and poor resolution display with the keypad made out of rubber and a bit squeaky.
It takes a memory card with support up to 2gb (which is not a lot for some) micro SD format. The mp3 player is not smooth as as the Iphone or even other cheap phones such as the Samsung GT-E250. Since there is no headphone jack an adapter would need to be purchased since the original headphones are poor quality and uses a Samsung connection. Bluetooth connectivity had some problems since certain bluetooth headsets did not connect properly (maybe due to the particular unit I used). The camera quality is VGA, and not even worth taking any pictures on the phone.
There is no real internet on this phone which is a must for a lot of user today, with only GPRS which is really slow and I could hardly access many sites from it.
The only positive factor for this hone that is makes capable calls and text, then again anything that is called a phone should do this.
If you are buying this phone for a very young kid then go for it, otherwise spend a little bit extra and get the Samsung GT-E250.
