Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, simplistic

Disadvantages: Not necessarily high ranking of quality, but definitely in value for money

The Samsung E2121 is a simplistic black coloured 'candy-bar' brick phone, which means it doesn't slide out to reveal the keypad, that is both affordable and easy to use.

As a student, I wasn't interested in purchasing and expensive and/or elaborate phone. All I really need is to be able to make and receive calls and to send the occasional text. The Samsung E2121 does just that.

It is lightweight, weighing only 74g, which adds to its efficient, simplistic nature. As well as this, the battery life is considerable and according to other reviews I read when researching this particular phone, it rates high amongst all phones. The phone is slim, unoffensive in appearance, but not necessarily something to brag about amongst your friends.

Features include a 0.3Mp camera, a music player, an FM radio, and microSD slot (which is is an expansion slot on a mobile phone that allows you to increase its memory). However, because its low and convenient price, the quality of these features is not necessarily outstanding, but still good value for money. Admittedly the features are limited and there are not hundreds of them like you may have come to expect from your mobile phone nowadays, but this explained in the cheapness of the mobile and so you get what you pay for.

As for connectivity with your laptop/computer or the internet, the Samsung E2121 includes, Bluetooth technology, GPRS technology (which is a method of enhancing 2G phones to enable them to send and receive data more rapidly), and a USB connection port. All 3 of these options are easy to get to grips with, and are thoroughly explained in the instruction manual. This makes it possible to put images from your phone onto your laptop for example, or to exchange or synchronize data between Bluetooth enabled computers and devices.

*** CONCLUSION ***

Overall, the phone is definitely good value for money and would be perfect as a child's first phone or as a gift to a older person less successful with technology. For me, its an excellent, cheap phone that is totally convenient and has a great battery life. Of course there are many other different phones that I could have bought, for a much heftier price, with better features and better quality, but for those of use with little dispensable cash, this was an excellent alternative.
