I had this phone for about 2 years before it was stolen :( and it was a great little phone. I chose it because it was a flip phone rather than a slide that was the most popular choice at the time. The flip meant that the main screen stayed in really good condition without getting a scratch the whole time i had it.
I loved the little screen on the front and that you could operate the MP3 player from there. The audio quality on it was brilliant when listening to music or watching a video although when on a call it was a little quiet so i always had it on full volume. It did not have loud speaker either which i could not do without now!
Also when calling people a lot of the time people would say i was talking really quietly when i wasn't so i think the sound sensor was not great but i did have that problem with another Samsung phone so think its a Samsung thing.
The camera was great and took pretty clear pics and videos for such a small MP. The internet was pretty good on it to do basic things like checking train times and downloading games. It also came with a pretty addictive game called bobby carrot which was fun to play.
This would make a good backup or second phone as it always had signal and the battery lasted about a week. I wish i still had mine, but i have still got many pictures from it as it was the first phone i had that made it easy for me to transfer pics to my computer.
It may seem odd to write about what is now quite an old mobile phone but I am using this phone at the moment, why I hear you ask in astonishment? I did have an O.K. nokia but my mum had a Blackberry which I coveted so much she decided to switch phones with me (she isn't a technophobe but the blackberry was a little beyond her comprehension in some respects so she did not get full use out of it.) I used the Blackberry for eleven days before managing to brake it beyond repair.
I loved that Blackberry but wasn't so keen on my old Nokia and Mum wouldn't switch back in any case. I remembered I had this phone lying around frokm years ago, I think it was my wifes first of all but this is going back to before we were married. I charged it up and it still works as well as if it were new. As there is not long before my wifes contract I have decided to stick with this and steal hers when she upgrades.
The E720 is obviously very reliable. It has a lot of features that we take for granted nowadays such as bluetooth and an MP3 player. The camera is not great but at least it is there. The games are fun and although not something that would persuade me if I were buying a new phone are good whilst trying to kill a few minutes.
The phone is a flip top which is a big plus to me as I have a lot of keys from work and phone screens are usually at threat in my pocket. Texting has been a standard feature for many years now but there is something lacking that makes this not as instinctive as modern phones. When this is in my pocket with the flip top down it still somehow manages to activate the MP3 player or camera sometimes which is insanely annoying.
This phone is great as a backup and after all these years I can vouch for it's reliabilty. There are obviously some things that modern phones just do better. If you have one lying around keep it just in case but don't rely on it as your main phone.
I am not all clued up on phones and do not claim to be an expert on them so i wont induldge you with all the complicated issues i found with this phone. But will tell you off my experiance with this model,
When i bought this i felt i was more up to date as i had got rid of m so caled brick of a phone, i was stepping in to the future, now my od phone was basically for recieving texts and phone calls so when o go this ad it had a camera i was thrilled , i had used my friends phone and had picked up a few things like bluetooth inferred memory cards etc so i knew about them but when i got this phone i was rather annoyed,
When making calls it seems to go really quiet and it is hard to hear who you are speaking too , then there is the issue of no speaker phone , which was annoying as i like to talk via that when i am washing up,
Taking photos is easy but tend to take up a llot of the memory and you can not add any extra memory as there is no card slot, it will not even tell you if you have missed a call on the outter screen, and for some unknown reason the battery when charging seems to make the whole phone go really hot ... and from reading the reviews here im in agreement that it is rather wierd ,when this happens becasue the battery gets too hot you have to leave it for a few minutes after charging to cool down...but when charged it will keep a good charge for about a day and half However the phone is stylish with a bright lcd screen and if you like texting it has some great functions in that area , the mp3 function on this is good but lacks the acoustics and note this has no radio either , personally this should of been marketed as an mp3 , not a phone , which i find strange as it will play music with no issues but making calls seems to upset the speakers on the call making as it makes voices go distorted or you can not hear!! I do personally not like this phone, so much so i am in the process of selling it , im hoping to find a phone that has a decent memory or one that i can add a card to and camera. This phone in theroy was not true to the commercial endorsments i had read before buying it.
Ok I really hate writing bad reviews, so I will try to be nice here, but this phone had two problems for me, and and one of them I felt was a big problem which I will talk about now.
As I was on a call the phone would heat up more and more and then really it would feel quite hot and burn my head up and give me a headache. This is no joke and I feel Samsung really screwed up on this part with the mechanics of the phone and no other phone I have ever used does this. I phoned up Samsung to ask if this was normal and they said yes for this phone it was, so they said I should just keep my phone calls short if I don't like it. This is not something I find acceptable as if I purchase a phone I would expect to use the phone for as long as I want to, without any problems arising.
The other problem with the phone is that the memory can not be increased so it is impossible to use it for multimedia. It really is a basic phone and has a nice stylish clock and flip feature so for this I would not say its a bad phone. Really the main thing that lets the phone down is the heating problem, and if it was not for this I would recomend this phone to anyone.
This was my first Samsung afetr being a true believer that it was all about Nokia's, but after being let down by them i decided i needed to try a new brand,
The Samsung E720 was a very stylist phone in its day- with a flip shut screen- This ment that your screen never become scratched and you couldnt make phone calls from within your bag or pocket.
The phone is very small and light weight, which is a huge advantage if you just want to slip the phone into you bag or pocket.
The phone has various features such as a camera, text and picture messaging, and all of the features that you would expect from a phone of this time-. Some additional features which you may find help ful are world wide time and also currency and weigh etc converter- which will be really help ful if you travel a lot/
Some disadvantages which i experienced-
IF you have never has a Samsung before- the keys are not where you would expect
I had to keep my phone on silent as it made some very annoying noises- and would make noices at any given chance!!!
Also i didnt find the battary life very good at all
This phone is great, i particularly enjoy the analogue clock feature as displayed on the picture! Back in the day the camera was unbeliveable aswell, although a VGA camera can only go so far in the world of today! So the camera is a bit of a dissapointment! But hey, you cant have it all! It's a really light phone so it's easy to carry round in your bag or in your pocket with no protruding antennas either!!! Music player can also be utilised from the front of the phone, even when closed! Loudspeaker phone calls can also be held the same way! Accessories are a bit primitive compared to the sleek new stylish phones of today but it comes with the basic calculator, to do list, calendar and all the basic organizer requirements! Reception quality is good although i found when i changed to an orange sim card there was a definite difference in quality! What does this tell us? :P Great phone
This phone is small and very light (weighing just 30g); easily fitting snugly into ones pocket without much of a noticable bulk. It is very durable and will even stand up to being thrown at a brick wall at a reasonable force, although I probably wouldn't recommend trying it out on a daily basis. The phone has been out for quite a few years now, but as it was quite ahead of its time in mobile technology when it was released, it can still compete with more modern models.
The phone has all the necessary attributes one would expect from a modern mobile; games, internet access, texting and calling functions, and plenty of storage space for music with MP3 controls on the front of the phone. The phone also has a camera, but at only 1.0 megapixels it isn't brilliant quality.
The keys are fairly large and therefore easy to use, although pressing the centre button will take you to internet, which will usually cost money (depending on your deal), although as it is a 'flip-phone' this button will not be pressed accidentally while in your bag or pocket, so shouldn't pose too much of a problem.
There are only a few trivial problems with the phone, for example if you are using predictive (T9) text and you write a word which is not in the phone's dictionary, it will not be stored, so if you have names or certain words which you use repeatedly, this may be a nuisance. Also, if you spend a lot of time calling people you may become irritated by a rather pointy part of the phone which annoyingly tends to poke you in the cheek which can become rather uncomfortable.
Other than these issues the phone is more than satisfactory and does the job very well.
I had this Phone a couple of Years ago and Had it for around 12 months I loved it, Its a great little flip phone, Stilish, quick working, a good camera. Good enough memory and Its good if you like a phone with a little extra. I addmit i droped it a few times and it was still working perfect its good a good life span and great whether you want a phone for calls and txt only because its easy to use.
This is a super little phone that I have had for at least a couple of years ago and I have it on an O2 contract. It is a flip phone and has a display on the front which normally just shows the time but when there is an incoming call it will display who the caller is, this is really useful if you have it set up as active flip as on this setting once you open the phone the call is put through, you can disable this so that you have to press the green button to manuallly accept the call.
I find that the quality of calls is good and the audio on the phone is nice and clear. The display is quite small but the colour screen s nice and clear and even though numbers as you dial wrap around on the screen the button are easy to operate even with longish nails hat I sometimes have on.
It has a 1mb camera which is small compared with the latest phones but it takes a decent picture.
If I have one criticism of the phone it is that it only holds twenty text mesages at a time so I constantly have to clear it out pretty much every other day sometimes, it holds 200 caller numbers in the directory split evenly between the SIM and the phone which I find is plenty for me.
The menu system is pretty good although again texting is a bit of a pain as you have to select each number for a text by clicking three buttons and then scrolling rather than using a multiple select option unless you set up the group text function.
The battery life is pretty good, lasting for about three days without use and it takes a couple of hours to charge in the car while driving, I never charge it at home.
Overall this is a good reliable phone.
I got this phone in January 2006 on an o2 contract and found it a great little phone. Its not my main phone anymore but I did use it when I went travelling around asia and europe recently and it never let me down once and picked up a signal in every country.
This was my first phone that was not a nokia so I was a little worried how I would adapt to it but I found it really easy to use. The only thing I found hard to get use to after been on a nokia for so long was the cancel and select buttons are on opposite side so it did get thrown against a wall a few times when I kept deleting my messages instead of sending them!!
It has a simple mp3 player on it, which you can control whilst the phone is shut, which is quite handy. Downside is it wont fit that many songs on so I never actually used the mp3 player very often.
The photo quality is not that great but compared to other phones released at the time it was good then! It stores quite alot as long as you do not fill the memory up with music and videos as they quickly take up your space. Another useful feature to the camera is you can take the better quality photographs/videos whilst the phone is open but you can also take photos while the phone is shut. Just be careful as I once managed to video inside my bag for 10minutes recording a conversation in the car between me and my friend, which was quite boring!! Handy side to this feature is you can be sneaky and if people wont pose for photographs get them to look at your phone and then snap away at them!!
The phone looks very stylish and is very light. You can change your wallpaper on the main screen and can also change the wallpaper on the small screen on the front, so you dont always have to have the big clock.
It has a few features on it such as world time (very useful when travelling), an alarm, converter (again useful when travelling) timer, stopwatch and calculator. It also has four games on it which are bobby carrot, airship racing, arch angel and freekick.
Overall a very good reliable phone
