Just to start with, I should probably mention that i am a bit "hard wearing" on my items. Its not that i don't care for them much, just in the daily hustle and bustle of daily life, things get dropped, run over, walked on, washed, sunk, and broken.
So then, when i needed a new phone, the samsung solid immerse appealed to me. I got mine with a 10 pound a month contract with orange, free handset, and 100 minutes talk time, 500 text messages.
So, to start with, what is good about this phone?
RUGGEDNESS: Ok this is no joke, with this phone i have put it through the washing machine, dropped it into a glass of water (this was as an "experiment"), dropped down a stair well, and had it fall out of my pocket into a puddle, and scratched the screen with the keys in my pocket. The phone has not been affected in the slightest by any of these (except when it came out of the washing machine, it smelt of Daz washing powder). To say this phone is hard is an understatement. Go on youtube, and you can see videos of this phone being put in cement mixers, run over by JCB diggers, and even being set of fire, and it still works! That is because of a "locking mechanism" on the back of the phone that means the thing is totally airtight!
I charge my phone about 1 time every 2 weeks, and i use it fairly often. However, a tip to any buyers, you need to change the connection type in settings to another setting to get the best out of the battery life. I can't remember exactly how i did it now, but i found all the information online, just search it in google!
The phone has a little led light on top, pressing a button on the side makes it light up, and boy does it light! Its so useful when putting keys into locks... sneaking to bed late at night after getting a snack... finding that thing you just dropped in your friends car... and any number of things. The only con of this light is that a: sometimes i occasionally turn it on in my pocket, which isn't much of a problem due to the last comment, but it can be a bit annoying (by occasionally i mean once every 2-3 months), and people are always taking my phone off me to use the light!
Ease of use:
This phone is very easy to get used to, and has a responsive, well laid out, and easy to interact with operating system.
This phone is not very "flashy". It doesnt do apps, videos, and all of that. Mine came with orange maps (a gps system), but as i do not have internet as part of my contract, i have never used it
I honestly cannot think of any other problems with this phone, I actually do not want to get rid of this phone even when my new contract is needed, because personally, i prefer my phone to just be a phone, i dont care about applications, and all of that!
So in summary, if you just want a bog standard phone, that doesn't do anything particularly flashy, but does all the normal things from a phone very well, then this is the phone for you!
The good things about this phone is that the battery goes on for ever before you have to recharge it, I probably only recharged it about once a month - if that, it is also tough I dropped it onto a concrete floor and it survived without a scratch and it is waterproof.
The one very annoying feature about this phone is the "fake call" which is there to get you out of somewhere where you don't want to be a meeting etc, but if I have my phone on silent or turned off it is turned off for a reason - I don't want to be disturbed, or I'm somewhere where a phone shouldn't be on. You press the navigation key and a pre-set time later your phone will ring this happens if the phone is on silent or turned off. I eventually found out how to turn the feature off but it kept turning itself back on!! The only way I found for the fake call not to work was to put the phone onto "meeting" profile.
After only about 18 months the phone developed a software fault and was useless.
