Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, modern sleek look, good battery life
Disadvantages: Limited features and applications, as to be expected with a budget model
After breaking yet another budget phone (dropped in the bath) I was scouring the shops for a cheap but stylish phone. After searching for some time, I picked the Samsung GT E1080, picked up for a bargainous £11.99 from Asda Home. I have recently become quite a fan of Samsung phones for their stylish designs and usability, this being the 3rd Samsung phone I have had. I was really surprised by how sleek and stylish the phone was for such a cheap price. A lot of the other cheaper phones I have bought have been slightly bulky or childish in their design, but this phone looks modern with a shiny black case.
I don't buy phones for any modern features ( I break far too many phones to warrant spending mega bucks) - I've never owned a touch screen phone and wouldn't know how to use an app. This phone has all the basic features as expected - receives calls, sends text messages (with predictive text) the usual extras (calculator etc.) which is all I require for my needs. The sound quality is good, a plus as a couple of the budget phones I have bought did compromise somewhat on sound and speaker quality, and the volume goes up high enough for me to hear the phone ring from upstairs in my house if I leave my phone downstairs. I also found this phone has a really good battery life as well, Im constantly texting away, and one for leaving my phone charger at home, but find the phone easily lasts a long weekend out (Friday - Monday)
I have now introduced the 'Grandma Test' giving my budget phones to Grandma to see if they are easy enough for anyone to pick up and send a text, and she had no problems with this phone as she has had with some of my other models. Overall, I would say this is now my favourite budget phone to date - easy to use menus, sleek and really great battery life. A definite 5/5.
