INTRO - HOW WE MET....
This phone was bought during a short notice emergency (involing dropping my former phone during a cross country hike that went wrong when we were stampeded by cows. The old phone remains lost, presumed face down in a cow pat somewhere.) and on a tight budget. Due to my job at the time, I needed a new, easy to use phone the next day, so I popped down to argos and ordered the cheapest one they had. This phone was it....
MY EXPERIENCE AND THE GOODS/BADS
It ticked the boxes I urgently needed at the time: cheap, able to send texts and make phone calls. As I soon found out however - that's pretty much all this phone is capable of. It really is basic as you get. It does all of the above, has functions such as a calculator, very basic calendar and alarm capacities, it even has one game! But that's it. No camera, no internet, no radio or even varied ringtones. This will instantly put a lot of people off. Also, back to the basic calendar and alarm - thesse functions work well, however with the calendar you can literally just set memos for specific days (without any kind of alarm time setting) and with the alarm, there's no way to set which days it goes off on which can be rather annoying - Though if you simply need a reminder of the days and a regular straight forward alarm this might not be problem for you!
However, all that said, I still have the thing! There are a number of reasons for this:
1) first and foremost, a thing blessed these days, its battery life is IMMENSE. I mean it literally keeps its charge for about 2 weeks. As much as I secretly hanker after a nice shiney smartphone, the prospect of having to plug in every night does not appeal one bit!
2) It's very un-pinchable. Ok, so it's a very cynical mindset to have, but I personally feel very uncomfortable with the idea of flashing about a very easily lifed piece of kit worth £££. If having an expensive phone matter to you, then you probably think I'm bonkers saying that, but then I guess if you're reading a review for this phone....?
3) Cheap n' cheerful - super cheap handset and for me on a pay as you go contract means I owe nothing for on it and find I spend about £10 a month. A lot to be said for that these days!
OVERALL - IS IT WORTH IT?
See all the above reasons - I personally like this phone. But I suspect those after something more than texting and phoning will disagree strongly!
Summary: A handy little phone that some may call a brick but I find useful and functional!
