      Advantages

      Disadvantages

The phone allows you to quickly connect to the web and would be a good option for casual use.

Last Christmas, my sister bought me a new phone and it's a Samsung Corby II. I have been using it for a month now. Here is how I assess it.

The good things include:a sleek design and it is not too bulky nor too small which fits right into my pocket but of course I bought a protector for it. It has pretty good text messaging and call function and all the basic utility application that you may need like alarm clock, calculator and etc.

When I am waiting for my friends, I use the WiFi capability so I do not get bored. You may also
use GPRS to access the web and has applications like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter that instantly
connects you to the said sites.

However, it has limited color options and you can only have yellow, white or the pink one. The touch keypad is somewhat small that its takes time before you can text faster and more accurately. And my snapshots aren't that amazing because the quality of the pictures you can take with its camera is only good with adequate lighting.

      great overall phone

I have been using this phone for over a year now and it is great. When I bought this phone it cost £60 and for that price it is wonderful, it is fast and very easy to use it is also very duirable. I do not use the internet on my phone regualarly but when I do it works great it is very fast, the only downside is it can be a bit fiddly because the screen is relativley small however there are zoom options but they take a little while to get used to.

Texting is also very easy and simple, the phone remembers the contacts you last sent massages to and puts them at the top of your senders list which makes the whole prcess quicker. The phone has lots of great applications allready on it such as a full dictionary which comes in very useful, the only things that is missing is some games (you have to pay and download these). I think the phone would be useful for someone who uses the internet as I have found it to be better than a blackberry.

I think for some people the phone may be slightly confusing because it is touch screen and works differently to non-touchscreen phones, for example if you want the screen to move up you move your finger down etc.

One thing find handy is the amount of data you can enter for one contact, for example you can put in their home number, mobile number, fax and email aswel as their adress, this helps to keep your contact book tidy and makes it easier to use.

The screen on my phone has cracked but I have had it for two years and regularly drop it, evern though the screen has cracked the touch screen functions still work perfectly well so it is not really a problem.

The camera on the phone isnt great but it is ok for the odd picture, it has a zoom function and a s long as your hand is still the photos are clear. There is also a video camera that can record for an unlimited amoutn of time as long as you have enough memory.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

It may not be amazing, but it has every thing you would need.

I will now have had my Samsung Genio touch for two years at christmas. I first saw the advert for the phone only a few months before christmas 2009. The phone was presented to me as a fun coulourful cool little phone... with a touchscreen! I heard a few people around talking about the phone, so that made me want want it more considering it was going to be popular.

When I opened the phone on christmas day I was very pleased with what I saw. I got my Genio touch in pink. It is a very atractive phone, medium sized and coulourful. The touch screen was a perfect size, not too big, not too small.
When I turned the phone on I was also pleasantly suprised. It was user freindly, bright and well layed out. It only took me a short while to work out how to access all the phone's features such as phone, text etc. I particularly liked the home screen. It is layed out in three sections, you swip to the left and to the right to move from screen to screen; this may sound confusing but many samsung touch screen phones are layed out like this now including the galaxy range. There is a widget tool bar to the left of the home screens which pulled out reveals widgets such as twitter and facebook, stickey notes, birthday reimminders etc. You pull out the widget you need with your finger and place were you please, that was an other reason why I immediatly liked the concept of this phone, It was very personal and customized to the owner.

The menu screen was also layed out similar to the home screen, there is three sections. The three sections each had many applications like camera, voice recorder, games, radio (only works when earphones are plugged in), music player etc. The camera is OK a bit slow, and obviously, being a 2mp camera, it was'nt the best of quality.
the voice recorder was good. it recorded things acuratley and played it back loud as the speaker was loud. The music player was also good. you can get songs by either plugging into the computer or by using bluetooth. and as I said before it had a good speaker for playing out loud. The internet was'nt great, a bit slow but ok for browsing, I didnt go on to it often though as it was expensive. Games were a bit hard to get. my genio did'nt have any games pre loaded on to it, though this may be different depending on were the Genio was purchased. To get more games was a bit harder. you had to connect to the internet then download the payed game onto your phone. The genio also had all the other basic applications like settings, time and date, calander, contacts, text, phone (obviously) etc. It also has a good batterie life.

overall I would reccomend this phone for a younger teen. it is good for someones first touch screen phone, but for technical people I do'nt think this phone would be the right one as it does'nt run android, like the galaxy range.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not for people with cheeks.

First let me say I have been dragged into the world of touch screen phones kicking and screaming. I am on a Virgin contract and the only option was for a touch screen phone. It is not going great....

So I am on the phone to a very good friend who is having man troubles. Lots of crying etc and what happens the phone goes dead - yet again my cheek has hung up the phone. Friend calls back complaining I hung up on her, she is clearly very emotional and just will not believe I didn't get sick of her weeping (which I was in fact hiding very well). Anyway long story short after much apologising I am forgiven.

Unfortunately since getting the Samsung Genio I spend half my life apologising, to my parents, family, friends bank etc - I'm sure you get the picture.

I don't know if it is ,ahem, my beautifully sculpted cheekbones or what but I cannot seem to make a call on this phone without it hanging up at some point. Even with the key lock on my dexterous cheeks some how manage to unlock the phone and hang up the call.

The other big problem is having to key in options when calling an automated line. The key lock has to be turned off to choose the option, put phone to ear to check the option has gone through and then my cheek goes and hangs up the call.

That said this is a nice phone. It looks quite sleek and the graphics are good. The sensitivity of the screen does take getting used to when texting but on the whole it works well. The camera is not great and most of the pictures I have taken look like they have sprung from the mid of Salvador Dali.

This phone is really designed for techie teenagers who I am sure will be able to take full advantage of all of the features and widgets that have passed by an ancient 30 something like myself.

Is there such a thing as a cheekoctomy?

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Excellent value.

I have had my Genio Touch for about 12 months now and at first I must admit i found it very difficult to use. This was mainly due to the touch screen sensitivity which at times had the "widgets" flying over the screen uncontrollably. I found texting fairly difficult as well but this was put down to my heavy pressing on the keys while trying to compose a message.

After a short time I began to love this phone, i got the hang of the touch screen and found it had many useful widgets like facebook, memos, even as far as going on a diet! The ease by which you can navigate around the phone is undoubtedly its strongest feature and i was self confessed expert in no time. With interchangeable phone backs this really is a great little phone. The sound quality is good if you use some decent ear phones in the phone. The screen is also good quality and the resolution is also good.

I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants an inexpensive and easy to use phone.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A good phone for pre-teens

I bought this phone about a year ago because I wanted to upgrade from a Sony Ericcson k800i.

I decided on the Genio Touch because it was in my price range and had a touch screen and the ability to use Facebook on it.

The phone has a "widget" gadget" which allows you to put various tasks and utilities in a bar to the left which appears when you touch the arrow.

Personally, I find this annoying. I'm forever making the widget bar appear and I don't have big fingers (quite small actually) so I'm not entirely sure why this happens.

The phone does have interchangeable backs which can be changed to suit your individual personality. The phone comes with two backs already, but there are many more on the market.

The phone has a 2mg camera but the images come out quite noisy but this isn't anything to do with how many megapixels it has (after all megapixels only determine how large an image can be printed to). If you're looking for a phone with a good camera, then this isn't it, but then, most people don't buy a phone solely for the camera. If you are looking for a phone with a half decent camera, then this phone really isn't for you.

The Genio Touch, however, does have a nice design and feels very nice in the palm of the hand. It's not too heavy and is small enough to fit almost anywhere.

The phonebook is easily usable and the wallpaper can be changed to a photo of your choice.

I personally could never get Facebook to work on it, even when my phone was topped up (I'm on PAYG) but this might be due to customer error rather than a fault on Samsung's part.

The keypad is relatively large which is great for those with less than perfect eyesight (like me!)

The phone also features a calander, so you never miss those much needed appointments, and a music player so you can play music on the go. The phone also features bluetooth and an FM radio.

Overall, this phone has alot of jam-packed utilities. It is a decent phone, especially for those on a budget and especially as a first mobile phone for pre-teens and teenagers.

However, this phone is personally not for me. I find the touch screen hard to use sometimes and sometimes when the camera is open it freezes and I have to take the battery out to restart is. However, this may only be a fault with my particular phone and not a common problem to the consensus of phones

A good phone for the younger generation

This phone is a member of the Samsung Genio range, which are a family of phones designed for youngsters who wish to use mobile internet, send texts and make cheap calls. This is the touchscreen variation of the phone and therefore has no keyboard, instead the screen is used to input data and numbers.

The phone has a cartoon background, which shows a watch on the wrist of a walking guy - this is quite funky in my opinion and it's nice to see an animated background on a phone. It is extremely easy to use this phone, all of the controls are on the screen and appear when available allowing you to touch different visual aids to change certain options.

The phone looks extremely trendy, with changeable back covers which come free with the phone - others can be bought also - apart from the three control buttons, volume control and power button there is no other form of button on the phone, making it look modern and simplistic.

The camera also has a camera, however the quality isn't too great as it's only 2mbp. As for the sound quality it's OK but nothing special.

This is a great phone for youngsters who want a touchscreen phone at an affordable price, but aren't too worried about the sound or photo features.

Easy to use phone with cool features, would reccomend buying

I have a samsung genio touch currently and have had it for roughly nearly a year. When I first recieved this phone I found it very easy to use on the first go with its touch screen, it is not too sensitive that other phones can be, but also you dont literally have to punch the screen just to get a reaction from it. It's very easy to use and I found that i could navigate my way through the menus and writing texts etc at ease. It also has many different cool features such as the radio, voice recorder, memos, converter, timer and is especially designed for internet use. It is easy to be able to log in to facebook for example, and keep it on the screen ready to use whenever you want. However this phone is one that cannot handle being dropped very well.. which i have personally found out. As i am quite a clumsy person i drop this phone quite regularly already the phone is cracked in places and has so many scratches on it. Overall i feel this is a nice little phone that is easy to use and suited to many people however beware not to drop it as scratches appear very easy on this little phone!
