Advantages: Very quick, good specs and some entertaining add ons
Disadvantages: None
The Samsung Jet is the new flagship phone from Samsung, it features some cool new features, and has been much hyped since it was announced earlier in the year. Does it fillfull the expectations set for it, or does it fail?
The advertising campaign, and even the name of the phone, indicate why it is the new flagship. On the outside, the Jet seems to be quite an average touchscreen phone, similar to the Tocco, which has already been out for over a year. A 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA, wifi, 2GB memory, still very good specs, but look a little bit deeper and we see why it is such a highly rated phone. For this phone has the fastest processor any mobile to date has actually been given.
This processor gives the result of a phone that carries out functions with lightning speed. Applications open up in a fraction of a second, and processes just run very quickly on the jet. Included is also Samsungs new mobile web browser, designed to utilise the fast processor of the phone. It features the ability to open up multiple web pages, and works well with the wifi module that is included, but it doesnt stretch far to reach wireless networks. It works well for me, but I am afraid it is not quite as good as the Safari web browser on the Iphone.
There are also a few neat tricks bundled in, push a button on the side of the phone and a cube pops up, which can be twirled around to open up different progams, its entertaining. The background can be customised with widgets, in a very similar fashion to the Iphone, and is very good, it works well.
I have find the camera to be quite standard for a 5 megapixel. It is nothing special, producing slightly grainy images at times, but comes with a dual LED flash that helps when taking pictures in the dark. The video and picture editing software that is on the phone is good fun to use, and is much better than average, video can be chopped and cut, it is like a mobile version of the Windows Movie Maker platform.
The music player also works well, it features cover art, and also comes with the cool ability to shuffle music by twitching the phone, the accelerometer picks this shake up and shuffles the music. A 2GB memory is already on the phone, which gives room for about 450 songs, but don't worry it is expandable to 10GB by using a micro SD card.
So overall I have so far found this phone very pleasing to use. It has many great features and works stunningly fast. I would certainly recommend it, it is available now from £20 a month or for £350 on pay as you go.
