Advantages: 8 Megapixel camera, 3.2 in touch screen, Phone features.
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to load once the phone is switched on.
I first recieved the Samsung Pixon a few weeks back and I wasn't very sure on picking it because I had other phones in mind. But looking back, I am glad I chose this phone because the features are just fantastic.
The 8 megapixel camera is what makes the Pixon stand out from the rest. You can tell the difference immediately from a standard VGA camera and the video quality is superb. There are many different functions you can use with the camera such as "Face detection" which will pin point each face when taking the picture and "Smile shot" which will only take a picture once the person is smiling. This ensures that you get the best photos everytime.
The touch screen is very responsive and it was a key point when picking my phone. The mobile comes with a Samsung stylus which you can use on the screen and helps me when texting as when tilting the Pixon to its side, its technology shows the side keyboard and is a lot more easier than using the normal texting system. But with all touch screens, they can get dirty easily and fingerprint marks can occur onto the screen.
The main features of the Samsung Pixon are very enjoyable. Widgets have been introduced and upgraded from the original version from the Samsung Tocco. There are many more such as local weather forcasts, BBC news, photo albums and upcoming birthdays of your contacts. This allows you to personalise your own phone and is very fun in doing so. "Live pix" is a feature that lets you draw onto a blank canvas and save it. It has gave me lots of enjoyment as you can personalise your own background, write messages and draw pictures. It is a great function that has been well thought out. The only problem is the wait when waiting for the phone to load. It takes my phone a good 1-2 minutes to allow me to use my inbox or phonebook which may become a nuisance.
The music player is also a key point which makes this phone brilliant. It can play a wide range of formats and the songs play with high quality. It can store up to around 20 songs. This may be quite low, but this phone is made for its outstanding camera, and focus' much less on the music side. In my opinion, I think this is a good point, but people who would like a lot more space for songs should look at other phones on the market which are made specifically for music.
The overall appearance is attractive as it makes its large 3.2 in TFT touch screen stand out. Some people may conclude that the phone is too large but I personally think that it is the right size, according to all the features it includes. The phone is quite heavy but this doesn't faze me much as I've got used to the size of it.
The battery life is good considering other phones, but with all phones, the best thing to do is to charge it overnight when you first purchase it. This will allow you to use the battery for longer.
Taking all points into view, I think that the Samsung M8800 Pixon is a fantastic phone which boasts many, many features and stands out from the rest of the phone market. If you are thinking of purchasing this phone, it is a superb choice for a superb phone.
Summary: A brilliant phone which will bring you years of use.

- 02/04/09 Now if you could put that bit into your review and perhaps expand on it a little bit (phonebook, battery life) that would make this far more useful to me. |

- 01/04/09 Hi,
Calls are very good and you can hear them clearly. The texting system is great because you can text either on the side of the Pixon or normally.
Thanks for the comment,
