Advantages: Clear screen, simple to use

Disadvantages: Sensitive buttons, battery life

I have to admit I am a bit of a phone addict and have had rather a few over the years. This was the phone I had before I recently got an iPhone.

When I was due an upgrade I knew I wanted a touch screen phone. I hadn't had one before and being a sucker for gimmicks I just had to have one. Several people had told me I wouldn't get on with a touch screen phone as I am a text addict and a lot of people say they are hard to text on.

This phone was offered to me by Orange as a free upgrade. I had never had a Samsung before as I tend to stick to Nokias but I decided to give it a go.

The phone is not the prettiest looking and the large view finder makes it a little bulky but its feels much smaller and lighter than the N95.

It has a large touch screen which was what really appealed to me. The screen is the majority of the front of the phone and looked much bigger than some of the other similar phones on the market. It has a 256,000 colour screen which is very clear and bright.

All options on the phone are activated by touching the screen. The phones comes with a small stylus which you can use instead of your finger but I never used this as it was either buried in the depths of my handbag or if I hung it from the clip on the phone it dangled down and annoyed me.

I won't bore you with all the options on the phones menu as this are much of a muchness to other phones out there with it having an organiser, address book, media album etc.

The phone boasts a 8 mega pixel camera. The camera on here is pretty impressive. It has autofocus, flash and face detection capability. I have used the camera more on this phone than I have any other I have own as the quality is so high. It holds around 100 photos at anyone time in your media folder but these can be moved into a sub folder and this frees up more space on your camera.

The camera has a shutted which only flips open once you press the camera button so this means the lens is protected at all times which is essential for me as my poor phone spends a lot of its time at the bottom of my bag.

The touch screen is very sensitive and easy to use. It did however take a while to master the art of texting on this phone as the buttons are quite small and if you have larger fingers you can easily select the wrong button.

There are two options when texting, if you hold the phone upright then you get a normal numerical phone option like you would with any other phone. However, if you flip the phone over horiztontal the screen changes and you have a qwerty keyboard option.

I really liked this phone and only upgraded again as I was offered a very good deal on an iPhone but there are a couple of negatives. The touch screen is very sensitive and if you are slightly heavy handed you may find yourself asking your phone to do things you didn't intend it to. The other thing I found was that the battery life was pretty poor and I had to charge the phone daily. I am however a heavy phone user as it is used for work and I send a large number of texts a day so for an average user this may not be an issue.

Summary: A nice phone.
