Advantages: Small+lightweight, wap enabled, dual screens

Disadvantages: no games, pedictive text is not as good as nokia

Last Tuesday(at long last) I managed to get myself a new phone. Converting from my old brick phone to a brand new A300e.

When you first get the phone out of its box, it slips together in a matter of seconds. Which is very useful for people like me who are not great with things like this. Also included in the box with the phone is a hands free kit, two batterys, charger, instructions and a little strap.

The phone is very easy to use and you pick up how to use it quickly. It is very comfortable to hold whilst talking and is very stylish.

On the outer shell of the phone you have a little screen, the Ariel, a service light, volume control, head phone socket and infrared port. This may sound like a lot but it is all quite nicely fitted around the phone.

The main screen inside the phone is possible one of the largest mobile phone screens available. The image is clear and unlike Nokia phones has a very high Pixel level. On the outside of the phone (when its closed up) there is a little round screen. On this you can see how much reception you have, how much battery power and the time and date. Also if someone rings you and this person is in your address book you will be alerted that it is them calling via this screen.

The phone has loads of features, but the two main ones are:

To do list:
A brilliant little list in which you can place things you need to do and want to do in the future. However it is not possible to alarm items on the to do list.

Calendar:
Here you can enter all the information you need on what you are doing in the coming months. However if you are like me you use it for short term things, like when a good TV program is on you put in in the calendar and set the alarm to alert you 5 minutes before the program starts!

The phone is WAP enabled and is surprisingly good for WAP, I have used WAP on my friends nokia phones and found it tricky and not great, however this phone is much is
to handle whilst it is logged onto WAP, it is possible to get around the different sites quickly and has a favourites list.

Text Messaging on the phone is easy and enjoyable, it holds loads of txt messages in its memory and has a entire archive where you can save amusing messages etc. The phone has Predictive text(you only have to press the relevant key once). Although for all those traditionalists out there you can switch of Predictive Text.

The security on this phone is brilliant. There are loads of options, but to give you a idea, when my hone is switched off and someone else switches it on, they have to first unlock the phone and then enter the pin code. If they try to switch SIM cards, they will have to enter a simlock code and a unlock code. It is also possible top activate call barring, so you can barr outgoing calls, incoming calls, international calls etc.

The phone has 48 intones all of which I have to say are fairly disappointing, however there is a ring tone composer and you can save two of your own ring tones to the phones memory. The phone also has a vibrator in it which if very firm and noticeable, however quite, so you can tell your phone is ringing when you don?t want anyone else to know.

The clock on this phone is particularly good. You can have it in 12 or 24 hour format and it has a great alarm system, you can have a weekly alarm,a daily alarm or a once alarm, the icing on the cake for the alarm though is the snazzy sound the alarm makes! One of the things I love about this phone, is that you an see what the time is in all the different time zones across the world and it is possible to set these times when you are in that time zone.

My only criticism of this phone is that it has no games to play, it may sound ridiculous but I always quite liked sitting on the bus playing snake!

The battery power in the phone is good, however not as good as most other phones. You get about two and a half days u
se out of one charge. However the smart people have Samsung have supplied with two batteries and due to the fact the batteries are as small(although wider)as a credit card means you can slip one in your wallet for when you need it.

The additional services you receive with the phone are great. There are loads of numbers you can call for free from your mobile from which you can find all the info you need. Also on the website you can set up even more diary alerts,e-mail and birthday reminders.

The instructions that you receive with the phone are great and tell you everything you need to know, however I would have to say a little more detail would be nice in places.

Overall I?m very pleased with my new phone and I think it is just as good as any nokia. I believe Samsung are going to become much bigger in the mobile phone industry now. Move over nokia here come Samsung!

I like the look of the phone but at the end of the day it is only for talking and texting. WAP technology doesn't seem to have taken off specially when the call charges are so high.

Smashing op ;)

I don't think playing Snake on the bus is sad - I've been known to partake myself ;)
