Recently got this phone to replace my Sony Erricson W850i (it got stolen :( ). First off it is a very very thin phone, you can barely feel it when its in your pocket, have to keep tapping my pockets thinking i've lost it. Sound quality for calls is very good and it seems to get a fair bit of reception. I nabbed this off my mum who got it for free on her Orange contract, and im Virgin and my sim worked straight away so im thinking they might be all unlocked (just a guess). The camera on it isn't too bad what you would expect for a camera on a phone really, i tend to use my digital camera for decent pictures, and wouldn't rely on my phone for taking good pictures same goes for the MP3 feature, which i havnt used yet as the headphones that came with it seem pretty cheap and tacky and you can't plug in your own. The W850i that i had before was good as an MP3 player with the 1GB memory and decent headphones. Most of this phone if made out of metal except buttons and what not, gives it a very sturdy good quality feel and it looks very cool. In my opinion this is better than the D900 slider which is a lot more expensive for some reason the only thing better on it is the 3.0 mega-pixel camera, but it's all made from plastic and feels pretty cheap. A lot of people seem to complain about the keypad on this phone as it's all flat and you don't really get any feedback from the keys, it took me a little bit to get used to it (half an hour) but once you are, you can text a lot quicker on it than other phones. Comes with a couple of fairly good games as standard some bunny puzzle game and a 2d spaceship one, havn't tried getting any others but these two kept me entertained when i didnt have something decent to play games on ( in lectures :P ) The screen is very good and clear and the menu and everything is very easy to navagate and use. I've dropped this phone quite a few times too and it's kept on going, will take most abuse if it's closed, i don't recommend dropping it down your stairs with it open it doesn't seem to like that.
sgh-d830 is a slim and a well presented phone. One disadvantage is that it is suceptable to damage even when carrying in pocket . that is when standing in a train and you are pressed against another passenger, the LCD display will stop functioning.
