I bought this phone as sort of cheaper replacement, as I have dropped my previous ( samsung too) at work on ceramic floor and obviously the screen went. Although illustration photo is silver, I bought this as a pink with floral desing. The phone is very sleek and stylish.
Menu is more or less classic as by other Samsung phones, easy to navigate through. It has got many features ( camera, MP3 player) so its quite good for younger generation. Battery life relatively solid ( depending how wanted you are). As mentioned before I bought this model as some cheap replacement for my broken phone, so didnt expect that much of the phone, and with the features is really nice handy phone.
I started to have problem maybe one and half year later with charging. The phone didnt want to charge and thus, couldnt use it. I tested different charged battery from my friends phone and the phone is working , tested the charger too, it was fine , so obviously there was a problem with charging unit. The repairs wouldnt be effective as the new phone is cheaper than get it repaired.
Nice little phone till it works though, but you might be prepared that you get what you pay for. ( or it will last only so much , as much you are willing to pay)
The Samsung D840 is a really smart looking phone. This is my current phone, I have had other Samsungs and really like their designs. The phone is finished in chrome, the top slide section is a shiny chrome and the rest more of a brushed effect.
It is a slide phone so is very easy to use with one hand. The 2.0 mega pixel camera is not brilliant every time but I have just taken some lovely pictures of my daughter. The pictures are not always very clear but I must have just got the setings and light right on this occasion. Any way what is your phone mainly for - its not meant to be a top class camera !
The phone has the usual facilities - bluetooth, music player, e-mail, mms, web browser, camera and cam corder plus phone to TV - you can view photos and video clips on your TV screen.
The phone fits easily into your jeans pocket as its quite a slim phone. I have dropped mine loads of times and expected the case to crack or chip-but it hasn't so far so the case is obviously quite strong.
It's easy to navigate around the menu and settings, you can download songs and ringtones much the same as most modern phones.
I have had this phone for 7 months and i can definately saym, with confidene that it is a very reliable phone. It look sleek and smooth, with the keo pad hidden from view. The two mega-pixel camera is not excellent but it does the job when out and about and an oppurtunity arises.
However the battery life isnt amazing and when charging the screen stays lit, which can be a problem if you're sleeping!
The phone is robust enough for evey day use, i have dropped mine many a time and its still in perfect working order.
The setup of the menu for the phone is simply set out making it easier to navigate around the different options, there are nine different munus overall. the phone also has an alarm function, however the alarm sounds are all preset they cannot be a song or sound not already save on the phone's memory.
the phone has a small amount of built in memory but has an available slot for a micro SD card which i recommend purchasing.
Overall i woukd recommend this phone as a good purchase.
With curvaceous lines, beveled cuts and meticulous attention to detail, the Samsung D840 really is a strikingly beautiful handset. The metallic design truly captures the essence of simplicity and style.
11.9mm slim, the D840 is easy to carry or slip into your pocket. Samsung's innovative Smart Surface Mounting Technology (SSMT) reduces the number of components and noise between them allowing for phenomenally slim and ergonomic designs.
The D840 has an excellent 2 Mega pixel camera, with 4x zoom and flash. So snap away and capture the world around you in vibrant color and crystal clear clarity.
