Advantages: Features, ease of use
Disadvantages: None really
When deciding upon this phone, it really was not a well thought through decision. I should count myself lucky then, that it turned out to be one of the best purchasing decisions I have ever made. Costing me around £60, I picked this up 12 months ago. I was in the market for a quick replacement phone as mine had decided it wasn't going to turn on any more!
The network I used was vodafone and this phone had no problems in picking up a signal. Incoming and outgoing calls are nice and clear; no breaking up or static, and you can quickly and easily adjust the volume with a convevient side button. These basic features are often overlooked when buying a new phone, but I feel it is important to remember exactly what the word telephone means.
The secondary basic feature of any mobile phone is of course the text messaging facility. Supporting both sms and mms this phone's texting capabilities are pleasing. Quick and simple to send a message off to your mates (and I managed to turn off the awful invention that is predicative texting quickly and easily as well). MMS is supported by the phones digital camera.
The phone's VGA is satisfactory enough; not your top of the range of course, as you can now get 6,7, and even 8mp phone camera's. It does it's job though, and I found it useful, especially as there is no delay on the picture being taken.
The phone, I am reliably informed had a functioning FM radio. I can't personally comment on this as I haven't had the need to try it myself. It's certainly not something I look for in a phone, but is no doubt of use to some people.
The MP3 player came in very handy for me, as this was before I purchased an ipod. Good quality, though you won't be able to hold too many songs on it as there isn't a massive memory on the phone. This can be simply fixed I suppose, with the addition of an external memory card.
The sliding mechanism was new to me, as my previous phone had been a flip opener. I found this to be convenient to answer/end calls by flicking it up and down. I know a few people who have phones with a rather annoying, disjointed slide mechanism; this is not true of this phone. Simple and easy to use in a smooth motion.
I also feel the layout of the phone must be given a mention. User friendly and simple you will have no problem find your way round. For this reason the phone is open to all ages. The design of the phone itself is also very good. Also a bit thicker than more recent models, it offers a compact, easy on the eye image.
I stopped using this a few months ago now as I recieved a new phone, though I'll add that my new one is also a samsung following this great first encounter with their phones.
