Advantages: Tough, good camera, easy menu navigation, great phonebook easy to hold, outside screen a bonus!Loud!

Disadvantages: Weird ring tones! Not buckets of memory

I have become very attached to this little phone - in fact, it is probably my favourite mobile so far. My first Samsung (I had, up til now, foolishly stuck with Nokia). I consider it's most note-worthy characteristic to be it's amazing resiliance! I lead something of an active lifestyle, and as a result my E300 has found itself dropped on many occasions. Despite a few minor scratches, this has never done it any harm.

One time, and this is somewhat miraculous, I left the E300 in my jeans pocket, a pair which were then placed in the washing machine, and along with the phone were subjected to a 40 degree wash cycle. My heart sank when I discovered a somewhat sodden mobile later that evening, and although I did not suspect any chance of recovery, I placed the seperate components out on a warm radiator to dry. Amazingly, a few days later, with a little charging up, my phone was ressurrected. What's more - the camera worked!

However, I consider myself quite lucky, and would not recommend that prospective owners of this phone attempt giving it a wash!

Also - the camera is of a good standard. The photos are clear, colourful and crisp. I have in fact, a few times, sent them to my email address, and used them. There are several 'effects', including night mode, sepia, b/w and many different borders, should you want to experiment with them. 5 20 second video clips can also be taken and stored, for viewing later. These include some limited audio recording.

I have found that the memory can be slightly limiting, and it is not shared, meaning that if you do not wish to make use of the certain amount of allocated video memory, it is wasted and cannot extend your photo memory.

The external screen allows you to take photos of yourself, as camera mode is accessible when the phone is closed via a button on the side. One downside of this is that I have often found this button gets knocked inside my pocket/bag, resulting in a series of blank photos!

As far as sounds go - the phone is very adaptable. You can easily change/remove tones you do not like (in my case, quite a few, such as the one that plays upon closing the phone). The ring tone selection is not outstanding, but the tones that are available are loud and clear. My E300 miaows.

The outside service light had proved invaluable for me - it flashes on all sorts of occasions, in a variety of colours. You can select the colour in which it flashes every 10 seconds or so, just to tell you everythings ok! Texts can be advertised silently, phone calls detected without a noise.

Brill mobile - love it !

Summary: Nice, tough little phone! Clear photos, easy to handle, attractive and useful.
