I've had mine for almost 5yrs. 'TWICE' it's been thro' a wash cycle. Took off battery & removed SIM. Put body in airing cupboard 4/5 days. Guess what! It still works! I love it & won't part with it 'til I have to. It still looks good & I know it's very, very CLEAN!
DONT THROW ME AWAY!!!
Thats what my phone screams at me every time someone comments to me on how old this model is. Yes I have had it a couple of years and no it does not have all the new gadgets that phones come with as standard now. Not being very technical minded (I type with two fingers so it takes me ages to write these reviews, as an example of how bad I am with things!) After trying to work my husbands new touch screen phone (which I do not like and it does not like me) I thought I should say that not everyone constantly wants the latest gadget or cares about keeping up with jones.
This is not by any means my perfect mobile phone.
I have the baby blue one because the the pink had sold out much to my disappointment.
The screen is rather small especially compared to my husbands phone.
The pouch it came with was very cute but a pain to have to get the phone out to use it compared with other phone covers you can get and it got so dirty in my handbag I had to throw away.
The camera is always getting accidentially set off in my handbag because of the controls on the side of the phone, which means I have alot of black photos. I wanted a flip phone for the precise reason that the controls would be on the inside and therefore I would not be able to dial some random number so this is annoying.
HOWEVER, I am not and probably won't for quite awhile change models. I does everything I need it to do ie
-make and receive calls and texts
-hold a charge for a reasonable length of time
-take and receive photos
-look cute (in my opinion)
So if you are looking for an old mobile as your childs first or for someone who is not technical minded I can highly recommend this model. Also when I do eventually chop it in, it will probably be for another samsung as this has lasted so long without any faults occuring.
Besides the ordinary text and call function, this phone does not have any outstanding features. That is, unless you are the stereotypical girly girl that this phone is blatantly designed for. Personally, the idea of having a 'pink calendar' on my phone is just laughable. In all fairness though, Samsung had developed an early version of the iPhone's 'apps', which now looks dated, but may well be useful for some.
In terms of usability, the phone is straightforward and friendly. A handy function is the ability to set your own shortcuts for the central navigation keys. I have it set to text messages, calendar, call register and alarm and use it constantly.
The phone does have a camera with flash and video capability. Handy if you forget your regular camera, but I wouldn't recommend taking your holiday snaps on it! The images are fairly good quality, slightly grainy, and transfer resonably well to a computer too. The main reason I use the camera is to display photo-caller ID for my phonebook numbers. This can either be extremely sensible with standard head shots or you can use your imagination! Beware leaving your phone visible in front of innocent minds!!
Durability is excellent. I have had this phone for about 4 years now, and nothing has gone wrong with it. Surprising, as I had previously been used to phones lasting about a year or so. This phone is definitely good value for money.
The only downside with this phone is more of an annoyance than anything else. The camera access button is on the side of the phone meaning I have literally hundreds of photos of the inside of my handbag. This doesn't have any effect on battery life, but means you have to regularly delete the automatically saved images. This is a fairly slow process.
This is a very pretty phone and practical too, ok so it's not as flash and doesn't have as many gadgets as newer phone models but thats part of its charm. The photo is a little deceiving as it is more purple than pink so you can get away with this even if you're not that girly. It is a neat flip phone with all the essentials including a decent enough camera, internet access and vibrate function. You can set the flash to permanent if you need a torch. It wears very well, after over 2 years of scuffs, drops and everyday use mine is showing only a little wear on the keypad now. One of the nicest features is the alarm which wakes you with a chirpy tune - much less of a rude awakening than other alarms. It's also quite small and the curved edges and colour make it a very attractive little mobile.
I have had this mobile for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it! I know it's probably a tad outdated now with all the mobiles around at the moment but I just cannot bare to get rid of it. Mine is a pinky/purple color. Very girly, very cute! The layout is great, very clear and simple to use. (I have a pink theme, which makes the phone even more pretty!) It has a camera on the front, as well as a little color screen. The pictures it takes are very clear, I expected them to be worse to be honest! - very impressed.
The main screen is small, but large enough to be clear. It is very good quality, very bright, very clear. I love these phones because of the possibility of setting a password on my text message inbox. (Great for nosey parents, sisters, brothers, friends and partners!)
All in all, it may not be one of these new, expensive gadget filled mobiles. But if you're after a pretty, girly (although they do come in blue too!) easy to use phone, with decent specs at an okay price, I would go for this. If you're a girly girl, You will love it.
The day that I have to get rid of this phone will be a real shame as it's the first phone I've had thats been really reliable. I always am really unlucky with phones either I that drop it and it a shatters like glass and i have to buy another one, or otherwise the phone is to confusing with menu's. Yet with this it's so simple which I find is exactly what i need. All I want in my phone is to be able to quickly send a txt when i need to or quickly make a phone call when i need to instead of having to go through the rigmoral of trying to find where your contacts are, you can find what you need quite easily. Also i have to say that the phone itself is not only attractive to look at but it's also quite tough - I've had this phone since it first came out in the shops and about a year ago after a night on the tiles, I accidentley dropped this on the pavement where it continued to fly across the otherside of the street and hit the pavement on the opposite side, went and picked it up and it came away with a couple of scratches and a small chip off the bottom left hand corner - Just wanna be clear that i don't advise anyone to go out and do this but still, how many other phones would survive that, let's face facts there's not many. This phones may not have every feature you may want but it does have a half decent mp3 (although i think most people have got a seperate player by now haven't they?), a nice little camera, the games are good (bobby carrot is highly addictive lol). I would advise you to consider this as i think it's worth the money.
I have owned this phone for the best part of 2 years and it has never let me down. As you can see I have given this phone a 4 star rating because I have a few issues with it. First off I have to comment on the design it is a smooth rounded phone that is almost perfectly oval in shape and sits beautifully in your hand. What I love about it is the originality of the design instead of the usual flat black design this design is fresh and different it is silver but has a band of colour (usually purple) running down the middle As with most flip phone it has a smaller screen on the outside which is useful for a quick glance at the time.
However as much as I love the design it's not that makes me love this phone. It has to be the durability. my phone has lasted me a whole 2 years now with the increasing flimsiness of the newer phones that has become a feat in its self also I have put this phone through more test than you can imagine it has been dropped more times that I can remember and has even been dropped in water twice!! The second time in a river and you wouldn't believe how long it took to get it out I nearly had a heart attack but once again it survived. As you probably gathered im more than a bit clumsy but you can't argue that I haven't proved my point in that it is durable.
now I know most people look after their phones more than I do so you may be thinking so what I don't treat my phone like I hate the thing but what is also great about the phone is it is all you will ever need for years too come simply because it can keep up with all you will ever need for years to come the phone has room for a 1000 phone numbers ok to be honest no one has that many but sill a cool feature. One much more useful feature is it has email and internet connection not quite as fancy as the I-phones however if you want an internet connection like that buy a laptop it would be cheaper and you could see the screen. Samsung E530 has an amazing video camera I can speak from experience here the quality is amazing and it can film for well over an hour The photo is also great and has all those fun options that make it look different like black and while. In technical terns the camera has 1.0 Megapixel Digital Camera Video Capture Video Playback with flash but on paper that means absolutely nothing to me. it of course has blue tooth which is good because it has a great music playing system and again officially it is equipped with mp3 and MP3 Ringtones polyphonic ringtones (which are really good by the way) and a MPEG4 Player most importantly it has great games come with it like bobby carrot(even the name cheers me up ;D).
Finally it has a huge list of organising stuff so much so it makes me wonder if the designer were paid on each new feature they managed to think of it has Calendar, Scheduler, To do list, Short cut, Clock / Worldtime, Alarm, Currency converter, Calculator, Memo book, Stop watch, Count down timer Fragrance Type, Biorhythm, Height/Weight ratio, Calories Counter, Pink Schedule, Shopping list
now ill look at the negative stuff that made this phone lose a star. First off as you may have guessed this is a phone purely aimed at girls with the shopping list and purple colours so this limits its usefulness to everyone. another issue I have with this phone is that the amount of stuff that is in it is a insane amount and hardly used not to mention it takes several days to learn the layout of this phone so you can use the alarm. but the biggest problem with this phone is the designers decided to put a button on the outside of the phone to allow the user to take photos with out opening the phone this was extremely irritating because its not really a useful picture and it meant that it would take picture when it was left in my bag or pocket so I ended up spending ridiculous amounts of time deleting photos I didn't want however over all it is a great phone and one I would definitely recommend. Below I have put a list of features which I was too lazy to talk about.
nternal display: TFT LCD, 176 x 220 pixels, 262,144 colours

****Samsung - sgh e530 ****
The box that i got this phone in showed the phone in several colours, however i have only ever seen it in a pink/purple shade so i assume that this is the easiest to come by. Apart from pinky stripe down the middle the phone also has a display which shows the time, how much power you have left and what the reception is like. You can also set it so that it shows a picture/ photo and the date. On either side of the phone are buttons. The right hand side has a button witch lets you take pictures of yourself or record, depending on what setting you have it on. There is also a bit to put headphones in. On the other side there are volume keys. This is a flip phone and when you open it up the top half is a screen- you can set it to show your own photos and they dont have to be the same as the one that is showing on the front of the phone. The buttons are clearly marked and are a decent size.
This phone can play music but since it dosnt have an external memory card it can be annoying to put music on- you either have to do it via bluetooth or by installing the software on your computer and connecting with a usb cable. On the plus side least the phone comes with this cable. Another thing about playing music on this is that you have to keep the flip phone open,if you stop it the music will stop aswell.
*Camera / video recorder / voice recorder *
This phone has a 1.3 megapixel camara which can take okay photos-i have taken some of my pets etc and these have came out clear eventhough they were moving. I liked the voice recorder with this it lets you recorder as long as you want ,as long as you have the memory of course!!.
This phone supports a variety of message types including normal text messaging, multimedia messages-where you can send pictures, videos and sound clips to other people. This phone also supports email.
Again easy to use
Comes with four games-Bobby carrot,Airship racing, arch angel and freekick. You can also download others.,the price will depend on where you download from.
This phone also includes a stopwatch, timer, calculator, alarm and world time. There is a function called lifestyle which you can create shopping lists on, track your period cycle on etc-A PHONE FOR THE GIRLS
The battery life is also good on this, lasting a couple of days easily.
(thie review is also on ciao/toluna)
For some reason I have two mobile handsets, this is my preferred one since my other is the truely horrid Siemens CL 75 Poppy (somewhere there is a terrible review of it to match but I havent the heart to re-write it).
This one I bought just over 18 months ago as a backup, or rather the nightclub I worked for asked the Supervisors to pick a phone so that we could od the managers job by being on hand to deal with suppliers and people calling about jobs. We all chose this handset but on different networks (mine has the Tesco pay as you go SIM), and different colours, of course being a Tesco phone I could only get the pink version which caused some hilarity given my usual aversion to pink things and I now had two pink mobile phones!
It cost around £150 but as I bought it at the same time as my usual shop got £50 off and £10 free credit bringing the 'real' cost down to £90.
Other than the colour I was attracted to the model by the companies generally good reputation for mobile handsets, its sleek curves and reputed practicality. Of these all have proved true in my opinion.
The looks of the handset are funnily enough exactly like the picture above, it has the broad pink stripe down the centre, and the more metallic looking pinkish edges, this theme continues on to the back of the phone, inside the clamshell is all the pinkish metallic plastic with silver buttons. It looks very classy - although the orange version is not in the slightest but classy, it actually manages to make this phone look rather cheap, but then Ive not seen many of that colour around.
Its size is 8.5 cm tall, 4.3 cm wide and 2.5 cm deep. The display on the outside will usually show you the time, battery life and signal strength with its green/blue light, but it can be set to display a photo when you open or close the clam. Annoyingly these lights cannot be dimmed and they are very bright meaning at night you either need to turn it off, or face down, but this is really a minor niggle.
Above this outside display is the camera lens and flash, the camera is 1MP and has a strong flash which can also be used as a torch, as well as taking the usual photos it can be used to record video clips. I dont use this feature often so cant really comment further, although the pictures I have taken are of reasonable quality given that it is a phone primarily not a camera.
On the sides of the outter shell are two buttons, a camera button which means you can take self portraits using the outer display as the viewfinder, and the up/down toggle which is most often used as the volume control, also below the camera button is the headphone socket of course only samsung headphones will fit but these are usually included in the kit when you purchase the phone.
Inside the phone as mentioned the keypad is all silver set in the pinkish surround. The navigation buttons are large and their functions clearly marked, although the direcrtion buttons being set around the button which connects you to the WAP is mildly annoying given the number of time I have pressed it too centrally and had to cancel the connection.
The screen is clear and bright, but the brightness can be adjusted. On the phone when I go it were several pictures which can be used as the display picture - I currently have the seal on mine. At the top of the screen on the right is the signal strength indicator and the left has the battery life indicator, in the centre of these is the bluetooth symbol when it is switched on. Below these is a coloured band showing the date and time, with below this the display picture and finally at the ver ybottom another coloured band with the quick links you have set up (Menu and Contacts in my case).
Accessing the menu there are nine options, Call Records which stores the details of the last 20 calls made, recieved and missed. Phonebook which is pretty self explainatory. Applications in which are your games(Java World) , MP3 Player, Liestyle, Voice Recorder, World Time, Alarm, PIM Sync, Calculator Converter, Stopwatch and Timer. The standard games are Bobby Carrot, Airship Racer, Arch Angel and Freekick. The lifestyle section has functions which are pretty much incomprehensible to me so I never used it, things like biorhythms, and fragrace type, although it also has some more useful applications like the shopping lists (usually storing the titles of books and CD's my family want for gifts) and the pink schedule which is designed to help track your menstural cycle.
Next on the list is the browser, followed by messages (the usual SMS, MMS, and email options),File Manager, Calendar, Camera and Settings. File manager obviously is where your pictures, music and anything else will be stored. Currently on mine I have1536k of images, 4803k of videos and 57262k of music which translates to 30 images,30 video clips, and 13 music tracks with 18303k of free memory left.
There is no option to add memory capacity with a card as there is no card slot but given my use of the phone this is quite unnecessary.
The quality of the MP3 player is pretty good, not so good as a dedicated MP3 player but as with the camera this is a mobile phone not a camera or music device!
A main annoyance with the phone is that you cant change the message tone to one you have downloaded, you can only use the ones prestored, although you can change the ringtone to any sound on the phone.
The battery life is pretty good, generally I can get two to three days of 'normal' use out of it before it needs charging I do alot of texting and make relatively few phone calls so think this is pretty good (especially compared to the CL75's 18 hours grr).
After 18 months of use the handset is still in very good condition there are some scrapes on the corners but even they have to be looked for as it still seems to be in almost perfect condition. Currently one of these can be bought for about £50 - £100 depending on the deal but have mainly been superseded by the E570 (a horrid shiney pink, ewwww).
Sadly at the moment this handset is still locked to the Tesco network but to get it unlocked should cost about £20 at most these days, but this has meant that for me at the moment I am still dealing with the frankly s**te siemens but even given my negative feelings towards that handset this one far outshines even my previous Nokia 6320 which I loved for its simplicity and functionality.
My wife has has this phone for the last 2 years and absolutely loves it and turned down the chance of getting a new one on her contract in favour of sticking with this one as there was nothing on the market that she preferred.
Personally as man, I would have no interest in this mobile to begin with it is pink.
However for a woman I can see this being a massive advantage and I know it was the main reason that my wife wanted it.
The phone itself is incredibly easy to use and has many features that a woman would love.
The battery on the phone unlike a lot of makes has never been a problem and has always been very reliable.
WHAT A PHONE! As soon as I saw this phone I knew my search was over. My criteria, however short, (be small, be flippy, be cute)had been met, and I was in loooove.
This phone is small but not so small it has unmanagable buttons.
Comes in 3 different colours; lilac (which they often try to pass off as pink!), pale blue, and the limited edition orange. All very distinctive and attractive.
For me, being a flip phone (one that opens on a hinge) was essential as I have a real dislike for new version phones that simply push up leaving nothing to the imagination! There is nothing better than pretending to yourself you are uber important by walking along a busy road and answering your phone with a quick and fully visable flick (accompanied by a flick of the hair ofcourse!)
Very easy to use
Strong hinge, so doesn't feel like you're going to end up with 2 seperate parts!
People ALWAYS compliment me on my phone when I take it out! (which i often do because i crave attention!)
There is a button on the side of the phone which connects to the camera and allows pictures to be taken when the phone is closed. A nice feature when wanted but tends to go off in your pocket or bag. But then its not really a big disadvantage, just slightly annoying.
There are some silly extras to the phone such as a 'lifestyle' section for recording height / weight, calories etc, which isnt overtly interesting or useful.
When 3 alarms are set close together to go off, the last one tends not to go off!
And finally, this phone is a GIRLS phone lads! I just dont understand when I see young boys out with this phone!?? They're in girly colours, have only girly wallpapers available, and the most damning evidence......there is a section for recording YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE!!! now how many boys are going to need that?
Excellent phone, top class. I have the phone in the limited edition orange which is nice because a lot of people have the lilac now.
ps. Sorry to any boys who do own this phone. Didnt mean to attack your manhood! (or...maybe I did hehe!)
This 'phone is the business if you want to combine trendiness and practicality. I'm not a one to usually follow a trend with my electrical items, however I'm pleased I decided to take some advise on this and purchase it.
Samsung have provided all of the usual applications that you expect with a mobile phone, although I feel the extras are great to use. I love the 'female' section of this mobile phone called the 'pink schedule' which includes cycle dates for women. Within the 'Lifestyle' application are extras such as the 'shopping list' although not overly easy to use are great instead of scrabbling around for a pen. You can look at height/weight ratio as well as work out fragrance types!!
I find the convertor much more helpful than my previous telephone and the capacity for information stored in the phonebook is good.
Using the camera couldn't be simpler. But this is also a disadvantage because I often have a collection of photographs of the inside of my handbag or jacket pocket. Forgetting this for a moment though, the quality of the images is brilliant, as are the effects you can achieve with it.
The usual other applications such as bluetooth, calender etc are also good.
I usually keep my 'phone until something has gone wrong or I've had enough, I think this one will be kept for a very long time. Brilliant!
-: INTRODUCTION :-
I bought this phone last year as a birthday present to myself, that sounds a little sad really I know but it was something I really wanted and what better day to get it on is on my birthday. Anyway I thought I would share with you a little about the phone.
-: DESCRIPTION OF THE PHONE :-
This is a phone that was made and designed for the ladies, its small, which is able to fit into a ladies handbag, sexy because of the design of the phone its not flat and boring like some phones are, this phone has a rounded body to it. It only weighs 85g which isnt heavy to carry about. Even though this phone is only 86x43x26mm in size it is packed with so many features, which I will mention later on.
To the front of the phone you will notice the 4x digital zoom camera, the camera is good on this and takes some really good pictures, also good for recording too. The external display on the phone is only 80 x 64 pixels, which is pretty small, through the display you can view the clock which is illuminated, the battery life and also the signal which are also illuminated. The phone is in 2 different colours with mine being lavender pink its as dark pink stripe down the centre of the phone, with the Samsung label going across the bottom of the phone. On the left hand side of the phone there is a little button, which is for the camera, you dont have to go into the phone to access this, but the only problem of this is when you have it in your pocket or in your handbag it will nudge the button and takes pictures. There is also the button on the right hand side to which is for the key volume. Also if you press and hold down the # on the keypad you can set the ring tone to silent, and pressed again will set the sound back
As you open the phone, you will notice the keypad which illuminates when the phone is open, also the 176x220 TFT LCD internal display. The display will show a number of things, the time, the date, battery life, signal, menu button, and the contacts button, and still enough room for a display picture. Clicking the menu button at the bottom of the display will take you onto a graphical display of features, where you can edit settings, change your display picture, edit ring tones, edit contacts, view the calendar, take pictures, send messages, browse files, go on the web, view calls, and play games.
I am going to run through the phone with you but I wont go into detail because I am sure you will get what each thing does.
Within the menu you will see
Call records view all calls made, received, and missed.
Phonebook - Add, edit, and delete, contacts in here
Applications In here you will find games, Music player, lifestyle, voice recorder, world time, alarm, PIM sync, calculator, converter, timer, stopwatch, and o2.
Browser Here is where you can connect to the internet via your phone.
Messages Send and receive text, emails, multimedia messages here, you can also edit the settings for messages in here too.
File Manager In here you will find, images, videos, music, sounds, other files, memory status.
Calendar self explanatory
Camera Here you can take pictures and record videos too.
Settings You will find time & date, phone settings, display settings, sounds settings, network services, Bluetooth, security, connection settings, and reset settings.
-: WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE PHONE :-
I love everything about the phone and I am really glad I bought it, the battery life is great on it and when it needs charging up it doesnt take long at all, there is also the fact that its small and doesnt weigh that much either so doesnt weigh me down and doesnt stick out anywhere. You can use the phone as a mp3 player, which is really good. You can now get this phone in more colours which when I purchased this I could only get it in lavender pink, now you can choose from white, blue, orange, and valentine pink. I just really like the phone full stop, there is nothing wrong with this phone what so ever.
-: PURCHASING & PRICE :-
You can buy this phone from almost any mobile phone shop I bought mine from o2 at the price of £200, but you can buy it now from the link at around £140, but its a great price to pay for this phone.
this is my first review so bear with me.
I bought this phone 10 months ago and totally love it. the sound quality is great and the design itself is very sleek. The menu is very easy to use although the buttons are quite small and u can easily type the wrong thing.
i use this phone with 2 sims and changing the mms settings and gprs are very easy to do. You can choose to store numbers on ur phone or ur sim. you can also store email addresses which is great.
I totally love the fact it has a torch/flash. i can go into my daughters room and use that instead of putting the light on and waking her up.
the 1 thing i dont like about it is i constantly take pics of the inside of my pocket as the camera button is on the side of the phone
all in all i reccomend this phone to any1 well maybe not guys but deffo girls. i loved it so much my younger sis went and bought 1 after i told her how much i loved it and she loves it just as much. Oh but watch out her dog loved it 2 and ate it.
CHOICE'S CHOICE'S CHOICE'S
When you first choose to get a new mobile it's never about just ringing people txting of takeing picture's,at my age you think to your self this mobile will be with me like a partner for better or for worse for the next 12 month's + so choose wisely.
within the last couple of year's mobiles have turn into not just camera's but mini camcorders i myself have have had more than 10 different mobile's in the space of 7 year's from my first NOKIA 5210 which was the first phone to have changeable cover to my SAMSUNG E530 and all of them had there advantages and disadvantages the choices of mobiles are endless,
WHY I CHOSE THE SAMSUNG E530
The first thing that stood out to me with this phone when i went shoping was the quality! samsung had ditched the usual silver brushed plastic in this model and chose a solid white plastic and it really does work for the better this phone,it looks like a futureistic phone from a sci-fi move ?
on the front of the phone is placed the camera lens as well as the flash for takeing pictures this was one of the feacture which pulled me in,takeing pictures in the past with phones was ok for out door use but as soon as you got in door the picture was just a mess as you could never get any light ,this has changed with the adding of the flash/light which can be used for simple dlashing or can be left on for takeing mini indoor movies.
the screen in this phone is also very crisp and clear and the contrast is just right so there's no lighting up of the whole room when you open up the clam shaped phone.
BLUETOOTH is also fitted as standard so any picture you have taken movies or audio clip can be easyly sent with in second's to you PC of othere BLURTOOTH compatible product's this is a brilliant idea as useing the older style phones INFRA-RED port can be a time consumeing and a bore plus moveing the phone just out of focus ment you had to start the transfer from the start.
there is also a built in mp3 player as well as mpeg 4 player built in so watching downloaded video clip or listening to music is very simple.

THE GOOD THING ABOUT THE PHONE
Well i am fully happy with this phone since i purchased it 3 months ago it is really easy to navigate it's menu's the sound on voice call is clear and outside noise free the video quality is good and even the music playback is of a high quality, the games are all so much faster than them on the older SAMSUNG'S,i think the best feacture of this phone has to be the BLUETOOTH meaning you can store anything in the phones memory from video's music to pictures which you can place in you background you could even have a picture of your best friend appear whan he rings you.
THE BAD THINGS ABOUT THE PHONE
The only bad part on the whole phone is the key pad which i think is a little to small, ive only got small finger's but these still tend to slide on to othere keys when texting and typeing in numbers the camera is ok but i think it could be a little clearer but apart from these point there's nothing else i can pick on.
OVER ALL VIEW ON THE E530 SAMSUNG MOBILE
Over all this is the best SAMSUNG mobile ive ever had from it's clear voice calls and reception to its crisp clear screen to it good quality recordable movie's and mpeg4 playback this is one of the best phones out at the mommentand i would recomend this to anyone its so easy to use even from beginers to pro's
