Advantages: Great looking phone with all the features you need

Disadvantages: no major disadvantages but sound quality is the only real feature that could be improved

Appearance - This phone is a very good looking phone. It is stylish, simple and not at all over crowded with unnecessary buttons and gadgets. The 'back' of this phone, when turned on its side resembles a slim digital camera - a nice touch considering it has a 5megapixel integrated camera. The front, a full touchscreen, is just as sophisticated and impressive.

At only 160g, I was concerned upon purchasing this phone that it would be delicate and easily breakable since I live a very active lifestyle. So far the Samsung Tocco has proven to be very hardy and despite being dropped very hard on numerous occasions, it has remained intact and without any cracks. It has develpoed some very small scratches both on the screen and around the edges, but these are minute and not easily visible until very close inspection. Like I said, it has really been put to the test!

An invaluable accessory if, like me, you are worried about your phone getting scratched, is the attachable cover that you get with the phone. This clips onto the battery cover and flips over the touchscreen, protecting it from dust and scratches alike. This does take something away from its appearance but is a brilliant piece of equipment.

Features - Do not be deceived by its simple exteriot, this phone is excellent if you like your phone to have all of the up to date features.

- 5 mega pixel camera - After owning a number of other Samsung phones, I have come to the conclusion that Samsung phone cameras are not the best. However, this does seem to have the edge. It takes good quality pictures that are even better when uploaded onto the computer. It has x4 digital zoom, an LED flash, auto focus and various shot modes and photo effects such as smile shot and sepia. I especially like the fact that the phone can be turned on its side and used exactly like a camera. On the down side, I find that the phone is slow to capture the shot and this can be inconvenient at times.

- Video - The Tocco is brilliantly versatile and its video can be used to record, play and message videos as well as video streaming and making video calls.

- Sound and Music - The sound quality on this phone I have found is quite good. Music sound is very good while the sound quality during calls takes a while to warm up. I have found that it usually takes a couple of seconds until it settles into a comfortable volume. The phone features 72 polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringtones.

- Entertainment - This phone does not have the best inclusive entertainment. It features one, not particularly good game, an FM Radio and podcasting.

- Messaging - Includes SMS, EMS and MMS, all of which are easy to use. Texting takes a while to get used to on the touchscreen and I find that you have to be very accurate when pressing the buttons since it is very easy for your finger to hit the wrong letter - this can sometimes be very frustrating. On the otherhand, the touchscreen has good vibration feedback which actually makes it feel like you are pressing buttons and this is a great help when first getting used to the phone. E-mail is also featured.

- Other - Bluetooth, PC Sync application, WAP and HTML browser, USB 2.0, calendar, calculator, count down timer, stopwatch, memo, currency convertor, convertor, alarm, world time, clock, to do list, speakerphone.

- Touchscreen - The home screen is very good and has a widget that you can customise for your own ease of use. The menu is clear and also very easy to use, with a style that is very similar to other Samsung phones. As mentioned before, the touchscreen takes some getting used to but is in no way difficult or problematic. I was concerned at first that the touchscreen would cause problems when in my bag, making accidental calls etc, but there are very good phone locks and a timer that locks the phone after a period of disuse. It is worth noting that the touchscreen cannot be used with a pen or stylo of any kind - it works with the heat of the finger tips which means that unwanted dialling in your pocket or bag is unlikely. If you have long nails however, it may be more difficult to operate the phone.

Battery Power - I have found no particular problem with battery power as long as it is charged in full each time. Battery usually lasts me three days on full bar depending on how many calls are made etc. The manufactureres say it gives 3h talk time although if 3G is turned off you could get longer.

Overall - This has been a very reliable phone with all the accesories I need. It is stylish while at the same time modern and purposeful. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try a touchscreen phone.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sound quality during calls takes a while to warm up".
