Advantages: Beautiful and neat, good memory and size

Disadvantages: A bit on the complicated side...needed online help.

I didn't specifically go out to get this mobile phone it sort of picked me due to the contract I wanted (and if I'm being 'all-telling' a great automatic cashback deal :o) ). I am not too fussy when it comes to communication devices, they are not my thing, the use is normally limited to making/receiving calls and text and maybe listening to the radio/music. However, I will have a play around with many of the functions on this for you good dooyoo'ers.

Retails @ play.com for: £199.99 for the ice silver and £249.99 for the pink.

What do you get in the box?!
***********************

1x Handset
1x Battery
1x Charger
1x SIM (unless you buy off contract /SIM free)
1x Radio reciever and headset which attach together (a bit too much cable if I'm honest)
1x CD and media connecting cable
1x Case (this replaces the battery cover and flip over to cover the screen, does a pretty good job in my opinion, it's certainly protection enough for it in my handbag).
And of course you get the manual which is rubbish. I'm still fumbling around trying to find my way due to the lack of basic information in the manual. I've had more help from online forums which I think is a failing or laziness (eek...only my thoughts) on Samsungs part.

Shall we start with a breakdown, inclusive of my opinion, of the spec? Righty-O!

Weight: 91g : Nice and light weight which feels very balanced in my hand.

Size: 95.9 x 55 x 11.8 mm : I don't think you would have much of a problem storing this in your pocket of a small handbag; I can fit it in my purse at a push.

Camera: 5 Megapixel : Good points: A great high quality amount of pixels that make for good large photographs. Lot's of options such as 'face detection', timer, special effects and frames for you creative people. This camera does have anti-shake as an option but...
Bad Points: ...often straight after you have taken the shot in focus the picture warps and becomes very dull and grainy. Not good in my opinion for those budding papparazzi out there. I also don't like the fact this this is only a one way camera so you can't take goofy pictures of yourself without chopping off half your face. Quite disappointing for a phone of this price.

Screen: 2.8 Inch TFT 262k Colour Touch Screen : It's very sensitive to touch but does not react to the more precise use of a stylus which means you can spend a lot of time tapping the screen but not always hitting what you are aiming for.

Special call features: 3G Video Call; I'm yet to have need to use this and do not feel it is fair to make a judgement on it.

Written communication options: SMS, MMS, Email : This is a little bit more my forte; All facilities do their job. However, I find the only downside is the proximity of the on screen boxes during texting; Often I have changed the language or deleted letters I have typed, which can be a bit frustrating.

Sound: Music Player (MP3, AAC & AAC+) * FM Radio RDS: The sound is OK providing you are not playing it at the higher decibels then the speaker rumbles and you get poor quality. Music played at a more reasonable level sounds just fine. Quality of sound during calls is just fine with easy access to the speaker volume if it's too low.

Games: Not a handheld amusement arcade that's for sure with only 2 puzzle games as standard. The kind you had as a child where you have to move the pieces within a frame to make a picture. Boring really. You can add other games if you wish at a cost of a few pounds each.

Applications: Plenty to choose from including calculator (with scientific options), memo pad, task pad, convertor and stopwatch to name some of them.

Bluetooth: Good old Bluetooth. This is the first phone I have had that has been able to speak to our computers...however I am having problems sending things over to the computer this way; but receiving and set up is a doddle (even for technophobes...yes, like me! :o/ )

Finally my overall opinion.

I 'purchased' the 'pink' version of this phone a month ago and am generally happy with it. It looks beautiful and feels solid yet small in my hand. The screen is big and clear and sensitive to the touch The lack of buttons is a great draw as it looks neat. It is a fairly complicated phone but I think they all are these days but once you have things figured out it is pretty good. It's very responsive and fast.

I've done my best here but as I said at the beginning I'm happy if it texts and I can chat on it...for that it is great. I rated this 4 stars as I am happy with it but other people with more of a lust for technology may disagree. Horses for courses, I say. :o)

Summary: A good phone that I think will last a long time without looking dated.
