Samsung Tocco or Samsung SGH-F480 (Samsung SGH-F480)
Member Name: KDorey
Advantages: Beautiful design, amazing camera Disadvantages: Buggy (freezes), almost no extra features Like most electronic goods, this phone has its good and bad features. I chose it under the impression it was quite snazzy and a good piece of 'kit'. Now, the Tocco does look the part, it has a distinctly sleek finish for the design and the menus are beautiful; you can even see them opening in a 'box-out' style (boxing in when thy close). However, after my initial love for the phone, it's flaws started to show. Firstly; don't bother with this phone if you want to play games, although this was not the reason I chose the phone, I know some will be dissappointed with the lack of available games both on the phone and on downloads. It does tend to freeze momentarily when it has to catch up with itself meaning texting can be a lot slower than you might be used to (it bugged me!). I personally have had problems with charging the phone, it seems to not always charge when you plug it in, I even bought a new phone charger but still have this problem :(. Also, I foudn that when you are talking on the phone, unless you specifically remember to lock the touch screen before you put it to your ear (which, let's face it, hardly anyone will), the phone goes off on its own, dialling numbers and opening odd things due to your cheek touching the screen... not wonderful. I think I may just be used to Nokia calendars and alarms but I didn't like the calendar on the Tocco, to add birthdays they have to be registered to a contact in your address book and there is no option for birthday, you have to save it under "anniversary", it also threw me that the age is not apparent on the notifications, a distinct problem if you use your phone as your personal organiser! Putting all of this aside though, the camera on the Tocco is amazing, at 5mp the photos blow up to a very decent size and look wonderful. I actually use this instead of my digital camera now! The video isn't wonderful and lasts mere seconds but the many varied options for the still photos more than make up for this. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this phone, I think it's still too buggy and definitely not an 'iPhone contender' as I have seen it advertised. I'm upgrading as soon as I possibly can! Summary: a pretty little touch screen phone but it's just not up to touch screen phone standards of today
