Advantages: Offers all the basic features and much more
Disadvantages: Does not have a qwerty keyboard onscreen, music player will sometimes play ringtones.
This is another touch screen phone from Samsung known as the "Tocco". I've had this phone for quite a few months now and love it! Its not quite a smart-phone like an iphone or a blackberry but it is a great feature packed phone.
The tocco features a 5 megapixel camera, now 5 megapixels may not sound like allot compared to some other high end phones but the tocco's camera is extremely detailed, it has a great auto-focus that many other camera phones lack this allows the tocco to take amazing close ups. The tocco actually takes better close ups than my older 7.2 digital camera.
The tocco does not have the ability to download and install exclusive applications like the iphone and other smart-phones but you can install Java applications, the lack of a physical keyboard can make using the applications tricky but the phone produces a small on screen keyboard for applications if needed.
Web browsing on the tocco is good for viewing mobile versions of websites as it is fast, the tocco can handle HTML websites but they do load somewhat slower. Because the tocco supports HSDPA allowing it to get up to 7.2 mbps it can be a very useful wireless modem.
The music player on the tocco is advanced compared to other phones, it allows you to rate tracks as their playing, the player also shows album art, but you cannot choose albums by their art it only shows when playing the album. One problem with the music player is that it can play ringtones as well as songs so if your playing you whole library instead of the next song starting a ringtone starts.
All in all the tocco is not one of those top range smartphones with millions of applications but it does a wide range of things well, if you need to take a photo you can with a high quality camera, if you want to browse the web for a while you can, the same can be said for listening to the radio or using an alarm or timer ect. One bad point of the phone is that instead of having a sideways qwerty keyboard on screen it displays the letters like a normal phone keypad but on screen.
Summary: A great phone but not quite a smartphone
