Advantages: great camera, very slim
Disadvantages: lack of 3g, slow camera
The Samsung G600 is a very popular phone, with good reason too. It's a very powerful feature-packed phone with all the typical style and finesse we've come to expect from Samsung. It's not very visually distinct from other phones in the Samsung range but is still quite stylish and sleek; the slide is smooth and effortless to use; it's not very heavy compared to other phones of its calibur; its a good size too, very slim considering what Samsung have packed in.
The keypad and button layout are also reassuringly similar to other Samsung phones; good sized, responsive, non-touch sensitive, robust keys.
The screen is perhaps smaller than comparable phones with 5mp camera, but it is still sharp and crisp with a good resolution.
The menu system and subdivisions are largely the same as previous models, sometimes particular things can be hard to find but if you sit down with the phone when you get it and explore it for a while this won't be a problem. The menu is to a degree customisable, allowing you to choose different "themes" and indeed to create your own. I prefer the inbuilt very aesthetically pleasing "espresso" theme personally, its probably the best out of all of them.
It has great features as well as the standard repetoire (e.g. bluetooth, games, music player etc which are so ubiquitous I wont go into, just know that they work fine and are easy to use), such as the aforementioned 5mp camera. It is of brilliant quality in good light, I've taken some amazing photos with it. The menu system for the camera is quite easy to use and has lots of settings to play around with. Slight drawbacks are the rather long time it takes between pressing the button and taking the picture (a trait of samsung cameras unfortunately), the lack of an anti shake, the lack of an optical zoom, and the lack of a xenon flash. These three things conspire to sometimes give less than optimal results when taking pictures but overall its a great camera. The video is of standard quality and records at a maximum resolution of 640x480.
It also has an FM radio, with the earphones acting as an antenna. It's nothing earth shattering its just a radio but for those who listen to the radio regularly, its very easy to use and has great quality. Im not sure about the prevalence of this feature in other phones, but you can record directly from the radio, which I think is a nice touch.
The G600 has internet access but the lack of 3G is disappointing. This wont affect the majority of users but for those who need or are accustomed to use mobile internet, it is a real shame. The browser is the same browser samsung use in all their phones, its quite simple, Ive never had any problems with it.
The battery life is quite good, I text a lot but dont use many of the features; I charge my phone about every 3 days.
Before I bought my phone I read a lot about reliability issues, however when I went to buy it the shop assistant said they had never had a single complaint and since I purchased the phone it has been 100% reliable.
Overall, the G600 is a very user-friendly, reliable, slim, stylish phone and is brilliant value-for-money.
Summary: great phone, good value for money, brilliant features, very sexy looking phone
