Samsung G600 review - Good all around phone
Member Name: bjs2010uk
Advantages: Picks up signal well, Nice bright screen, Reliable phone, Good battery life
Disadvantages: Number buttons do not press in much, slow catching up when typing text messages and phone numbers
The Samsung G600 packs a lot of features into an aesthetically pleasing design. As you can see from the picture of the phone it is a slide design, which reveals the camera lens. The G600 is a nice size and fits in the palm of your hand well.
Lets start first of all with the phones software - the software on the phone isn't great but on the other hand isn't awful. I found it quite slow to use and I am not too sure if it was the build of the keypad or the software but when texting quickly the phone could not keep up and I ended up missing words or part of words off. Also this created a problem when typing numbers quickly on the home screen as a number of times numbers were missed off. However software appeared reliable and I never experienced the phone switching itself off or resetting etc. Except for this there is a basic menu system, which is quite easy to navigate around. I did find some of the themes already installed on the phone a bit basic or girly. There are a number of bright and colourful wallpapers already installed on the phone.
I found this phone very good at picking up reception, even in poor service areas.
The ringtones on the phone are very loud and easy to hear when out and about.
The camera on the G600 is 5 megapixel but I did find this a bit disappointing as pictures came out grainy when viewed on the phone. Also the phone seemed to struggle in low light conditions; however this is apparent with most phones.
The keypad is strange, it has a nice layout but the number buttons don't press in much so sometimes you wonder if you have actually pressed them.
The battery on the phone is pretty average and lasts about 3 days with average use.
I owned this phone for about a month then decided to get rid of it due to the number of irritants - mostly relating to the text messaging problems. However I would recommend most people to go and buy this handset as it is a very nice design and easy to use. I think this phone would best suit people who don't text a lot and want a reliable and cheapish phone that doesn't cost the earth.
Summary: Good all rounder - best suited to low users of mobile phones.
