**overview**
Well after my old phone decided to die (i couldn't even charge it)
I kinda figured that I needed a new phone, so after searching the tinternet, I found an offer from virgin media (£10 a month with 100 texts and mins...but i digress) and then I found my lovely Samsung SGH-J700...I was baffled slightly at first but I picked it up really easily (DO NOT READ THE MANUAL IT DOES NOT HELP) At first as well I kept the screen protector on because I know Samsung phones in general end up with scratched screens.
However I took it off....er the screen protector nothing else to clarify ( i get told off for using "it" without clarifying)
**Appearance**
Overall quite a stylish shape, a sort of rounded rectangle which ihas the buttons down at the bottom of the screen (well obviously) with the name of the manufacturer near the speaker at top and whatever company you are with above the buttons.
Also the buttons on the front of the phone: round button in the middle (which are either black or pink depending upon which colour you chose....mines pink), which is used for navigating, with a smaller silver button in the middle for selecting. Then either side there are two see through buttons which are used for selecting again but also for navigation, then beneath that there is the answer and hang up key with a "C" button inbetween, this button is like a cancel key. Then inside you have big number keys. On the side there is a volume key
**Features**
Size:99.5 x 48 x 14.8 mm
Weight: 92 g (s o you know you have a phone, but it's still light)
Screen size:128 x 160 pixels, 2.0 inches, which is also 65k colours
Ringtones/Messaging:Polyphonic ringtones (inbuilt) or Mp3 with the basic vibration function and you can download ringtones.
Messages can either be SMS (normal text) MMS(Multimedia text...pictures are worth 1000 words) and Email.
Browser function (its WAP)
Games (I recommend deleting them for more memory or alternetivly getting a Micro SD card which can go up to 2gb because otherwise you won't have any memory)
1.3mp camera which can be used for photos or video's (not very good quality though, you have to have really steady hands or your picture will be blurry)
java (obviously because the games are from Java)
Mp3 player/video player-Can take Mp3, M4A, AAC, AAC +MIDI, MPEG4
Voice recording (who uses voice record anyway????)
Organizer (calender, alarm, convertor, calculator)
T9 predictive texting (turn off by press and hold the * key while writing a message)
Comes in Black or Pink
Internal memory/expandable memory: 10gb (internal) up to 2gb (expandable) (oh and you can store 1000 contactsa in your phonebook...but who really needs that many, any budding socialites pehaps??)
Battery life:about 4-6 days depending on whether you listen to music or not ( i tend to...)
**Price**
well as i have mentioned it's £10 on a virgin media contract, but for just the phone it's £50 so most people can afford it
**My Opinion**
I really quite like the J700, it's fairly simple to use and pick up (although findinhg everything first time round is quite difficult) the buttons are big so you shouldn't make toomany mistakes typing a text message or a phone number (unless you have failry big fingers)
I love the mp3 player it looks quite stylish and has many equaliser settings (however you need the headphones that come with the phone you can't have any other...) The sound quality is a little iffy compared to what i'm used to but to be honest it's quite good (as long as the person your talking to hasn't got a car kit...you get an extraordinary echo) it's got a stylish design and has a really nice metallic finish (Oo Shiny)
The camera is okay, it's not particularly brilliant but to be fair you don't really need the camera on a phone but its good just to have there to show that your phone was expensive (when it really wasn't!)
I was disappointed by the slightly isorgansied layout of menu's, and that I can't get signal anywhere really (that might just be virgin....)and it is quite slippy, i mean the phone and also the buttons...
Generally it is a really good phone, I do have some little niggles about it but no phone is completly perfect. However ythis is perfect for me...simple, cheap and quick to pick up (i am a little bit stupid sometimes so I needed a phone which is practically idiot proof)
Summary: A very good phone, hope you enjoyed my review!
