Advantages: Lots of features, cheap and easy to use
Disadvantages: Not the greatest picture and sound quality
My brand new F480 Tocco popped its clogs a couple of weeks ago after just a couple of months usage, and with very little pennies in the bank at the moment I couldn't afford to just go out and buy another one, so off I trotted to Mommy and Daddys house to see if they had a spare phone for me to use. They came to my rescue with my Dads previous phone which he had kept as a spare phone - the Samsung SGH-J700.
~The Phone Itself~
The design itself is quite sleek, obviously not to the standard of some of the newer and more expensive phones of late, but still quite stylish in looks for the price paid for it. It is a 'slide-up' phone where you have to push the screen up to reveal the key buttons underneath.
This is a standard style phone and not a touch screen phone. It is available with either a black or silver casing. I personally have the black casing and for me it makes the phone look more expensive than it actually is.
The top of the phone consists of a screen measuring around 1.8" x 1.5", which is pretty impressive for this phone, as the phone itself is quite small, so I think they have made the most of the space by optimising the screen as much as possible. You also get a circular menu button in the middle which dominates the phone and the usual call answer, call ending and cancel buttons too. All these buttons are located on the top of the phone and not underneath the 'slide' part.
The phone itself is slim, small and rectantular in shape with curved edges at the bottom. It is quite a simple design but with a contemporary 'minimalist' feel to it. When the phone has been 'slid up' the measurements of the phone are 5.5" long x 1.5" wide, though the length changes to just under 4" when slid down. The phone is light in weight and fits easily into pockets and handbags.

As with most other phones you obviously have the ability to download other music and games via bluetooth or via your internet should you subscribe to it. The quality of photos and videos are slightly questionable. Not bad for the price paid for the phone, but not of the highest quality either. The detail isn't as clear as I would personally like - but then I'm not really in a position to moan am I!!!
You can also change all settings such as caller ID, call waiting, key volume, ringing volume, message tone, display and screensaver pictures, ringing tone (this phone does contain some of Samsungs own tunes, but I would recommend putting some of your own music on this phone should you get one as Samsungs own tunes are pretty lame!).
~Price~
This phone at present can be brought from the Orange website for just £54.00. Ok its not the most fantastic phone on the market at present, but it has a lot of features for that price and I wouldn't hesitate to pay that price for a phone such as this.
~Summary~
I have been really impressed by this phone. Ok, so its not my Tocco, but then it is about 80% cheaper! It has all the features that I need on a phone, its small and light to carry around, and has a stylish, feminine look about it. With no case, it is easily scratched so beware of this. I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a cheapish phone which contains a lot of features.
It is also really simple to use too. Although it does contain a lot of features, it is a really basic phone to use. The menu is set out in a simple way with all applications and features easy to find and use. This phone is perfect for someone like my Dad who, for example, wanted a decent phone where he could play games and take photos of my Son, but who couldn't generally work a phone if his life depended on it! Also a great first phone for your child, who wants a phone to make them look cool - but without you having to spend a fortune on it!
Highly recommended for a phone in the cheaper end of the market
Summary: A really good, reliable phone
