Advantages: small, compact, great graphics

Disadvantages: pants games, lack of features

I still remember the day my friend asked me if I wanted his old phone. When he told me it was the Samsung T100 I was sooooo happy!

I had never used the phone but one of my friends at school had it and I was in love with it.

He had paid around 200 for it and he gave it to me for nothing so I was very happy about this!

He brought it round to me a few days later and I was so happy as I took it out of the box and thought wow! My first colour graphics phone!

Then I came across my 1st problem. I couldn't get the back of the phone off to take the battery out and put my sim card in it. It was extremely tough and I ended up having to use a spoon to get it off! But eventually I was all set up and ready to switch my phone on for the first time.

I was incredibly impressed by the graphic quality on the phone, but then again it was my first colour phone.

I liked the moving backgrounds and thought it was so good that I sat there and watched it for ages!

I then proceeded to carry on to look at the rest of the details on the phone. I was very impressed again by the quality of graphics on the pictures in the menu. It was also very easy to browse through and I found everything I needed to get with ease.

I then decided to try out the ringtones. Also this was my first phone with polyphonics but I was incredibly impressed with the sound quality and it was like a DJ playing songs in my phone! (But obviously without the lyrics). There was a wide selection to choose from and they were all as good as the one before it.

One problem with the ringtones though, is that you can't have vibrate on while the tone plays. You can either have it vibrate then play the ringtone or just vibrate or just ringtone. I was quite disappointed with this.

I then looked at the games. There was only three and at first I was happy with them. One was like a cyber pet, but it got very boring after a few days and the novelty soon ran out. The other two games were more action like and these kept me a bit more amused but once again I got bored of them quite quickly. I also didn't ever seem to find anyway of downloading anymore games. I don't know if this was actually possible but I could not figure it out.

The phone did have wap enabled and I was able to download some ringtones and these were also once again of very good quality. But then I found the programme for my PC as I already had the cable so that I could connect my phone to it and get free ringtones and wallpapers etc. The wallpapers I was able to get for free were of great quality although you can only have one downloaded wallpaper on it at a time. The free ringtones that I got were not all of great quality although some that I got did vibrate at the same time as ringing. Once again you are limited to about 6 spaces of downloaded ringtones so you can't always keep the ones you want to.

Something else I did not like about the phone was the fact that because it is a flip phone you cannot change any covers. So if it gets scratched it remains scratched. Although due to it being a flip phone it becomes very compact and you are able to keep it most places.

I also was not impressed with the image quality when you wrote a text. There is no counter to show how many characters you have left and so it is hard to predict. It does however, have predictive text for those who prefer to use that. But the layout of the text when writing it was not all that good. It does not move words down to the next line when it runs out of space. I found this quite annoying.

I loved the flashing service light on the phone and also loved the fact that you could change its colour and that it changed colour with the rhythm of the ringtone. So it was like a disco in my pocket (or in my bag, depending where it was at the time).

The small arial annoyed me slightly as I had previously had a phone without one and I wasn't too happy to gain one again. But as it is only small it wasn't that much of a nuisance.

I was also a bit disappointed at the lack of features for such a technical phone. It does not have java, gprs, bluetooth or infrared. I would have expected such a pricey phone to have at least one of these features.

The address book could store a large amount of numbers on both phone and sim so I was able to store all the numbers I had gained due to my busy social life (yeah right) in my phone easily.

But all in all, my time with my Samsung was a happy one.

Thanks for reading

they're tough little cookies these phones, the arial bit snapped off, I've dropped it so many times (and they interestingly explode when you drop them), and the darn thing still works though!
