It's a good phone for a first phone or if you only want it for the simplist things

I have had many different branded phones in the past and although Samsung is one of the most popular I wouldn't choose to have the Tocco Light again.

Some good things about this phone are how small and light it is so you can fit it in your pocket unlike the size of some new phones, however I found this phone to be to light. The screen is also a good size and you can see Internet pages or images very clearly. If you like touch screen phones this would be a good option for you to buy as it is a cheap alternative and has many of the same features as new phones.

Another feature I found good about this phone is the connectivity to your laptop to transfer pictures and music. I found this very easy to use and I downloaded a software from samsung which helped me do everything I needed. The good thing about this this phone which you cannot do for iPhone is to transfer music from your laptop library and also set them as ringtones.

The things I did not find so great about this phone is the layout. I didn't particularly like the way samsung has set it up. I much rather the blackberry style or now the iPhone. The keyboard was not set out like a qwerty keyboard which I found difficult to use going from a blackberry.

Overall I think this is a good phone is you are looking for a cheap Alternative for a Samsung and only use it for pictures, calls and texts however if you want the most gadgets on a phone I would pick a newer model.

a good value for money phone

Before I got my galaxy ace I had a toco lite. It was a very practical phone for everyday use. It was definetly value for money. I had it for approximately 6 months and never gave me any bother. The camera was very clear on it. the only one issue I would have with it would have been how slow the browsing was. When searching on the broswer it could take up to 30seconds for a page to load and sometimes some sites were too big for it to load. Though that was only to be expected with how much I bought the phone for. The touch screen would sometimes mess about but all you have to do is re calibrate it in the settings menu. If you are wanting a phone for the use of internet and games I would not recommend but for the use of messaging, camera, social media sites then this is a great purchase.
I also dropped the phone many times and not once did it show any signs of breaking down.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

There are much better phone available on the market

When I was looking for a phone I was looking for all the normal thing that customer looks for, this was for it to be reasonable price ,for it to be user friendly and for it to have a good camera. In my view the samsung tocco had all of this. Its sleek stylish look and at under a hundred pounds or around 15 pounds on a 24 month contract. This is in my view was fantastique.

But once I starting using I realised that the build was incredibly poor with the casing falling apart and the back of the phone sliding off at least once a day. This is coupled with the fact that the touch screen on the phone is pressure sensitive and not heat sensitive. This can mean that texting on this can be much slower than newer phone In addition the phone lacks the ability to get internet through 3g which is expected of phone now a day and means that the simplistic task of checking your messages on the move is simple not possible which I in particular found easily annoying
The positive of the phone is it price which at around ££60 pounds is incredible competitive, furthermore the size I personally found absolutely perfect for fitting in my pocket at 104 x 53 x 11.9mm and the battery is fairly good I found personally that it would last around a day even if I made several calls

So overall although the phone isn't as awful as some people say but in my view I think around a hundred pounds more there are many better phone available such as the S3,this will require you to spend another couple hundred of pounds but this could be a sensible idea if you use the phone a lot. But this phone does do all the basic well.

there are much better options available!

In the past 6 months I have moved to my swanky new Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, but until then I was stuck on a contract with my Samsung Tocco lite for around 2 years. First, the positives. Its pretty cheap (especially now), and its quite a nice phone for first-time touch-screen users, as it doesn't have all the fancy gadgets a smartphone does. The battery life is pretty decent too. Having said this, overtime i grew to view this phone with something close to loathing. My first issue is that it's REALLY difficult to text on. Its an old-style touch-screen which means it responds to pressure, not heat like the new ones. This is great for using with gloves and long nails, but leads to inaccurate texting on the keypad the large majority of the time. My other major grievance is the phone's response to low battery. It beeps or vibrates depending on settings every 5-10 minutes for HOURS, with no silent option. It can last on so-called low battery for up to 12 hours, but it won't allow you to run high power apps such as games in order to drain the battery more quickly. It drove me barmy, and these days, there are much better options for the original price of this phone a few years ago (about £60) It ha internet capabilities, but they are almost useless. loading facebook, or indeed any webite takes an unbelievable amount of time. Please don't waste your time with it!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Good and easy to use

I brought this phone a few years ago and it can't be denied that this phone is useful. It must be acknowledged that by now, at least for me, Samsung are a reliable brand and not just in the mobile phone area. The phone is initially of a light weight and this is effective because it makes this phone easily transportable. The phone is small and slim so it is also able to fit into your front or back pocket if you are taking a small trip out and don't want to take a bag. The design is slim and is a nice sleek colour of silver and black. In accordance to other features the phone is really easy to use to text and to make phone calls and this is good for anyone who is not technology friendly.

The mobile phone of course, is touch screen. It is made really simple to use and navigate through this touch screen. Considering it is not a smartphone the camera on the reverse side is considerably decent because it is 3 Megapixel. The camera also comes with special advanced features that allow you to add special effects to your captured image. This of course is even applicable after you have taken the photo because you are able to customize an image after and even make it look fun with party hats and other objects.

It comes with a built in MP3 player and also a FM radio. The MP3 player plays many multi-format music files. You can customize your main background with images and widgets. The phone has a decent amount of widgets and you get to choose which show in you navigation and on you main background. Widgets can be used as a clock to keep track of the time or as online widgets, to even to get updates on things such as the weather. You can also use the internet at anytime anywhere.

I would recommend this phone to friends or to anyone in general as it functions considerably like a smart phone. This phone scales everything down into a pocket sized piece of software.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      I'll miss you

As per my previous review on the Orange San Francisco, I had to buy a Samsung Tocco from Tesco after my rubbish contract phone died, with a year still to go on my Orange contract. I chose this phone as it was around the £40 mark when I bought it and was compatible with my existing contract SIM card (with Orange, obviously). I resented having to buy a phone at all at the time, so what I was looking for with this was purely the price. I wanted the cheapest smartphone I could get, as I was paying for data usage on a contract with nearly a year left to run. There were phones as cheap as £10 that didn't allow for internet access available but I felt I was best off trying to make the most of my bad situation by getting a phone that offered this.

My first impressions of this phone were high because for the price, this looks and feels like a really good quality little phone. It's small, sleek and lightweight and it feels comfortable to hold and use. It slips easily into my jeans pocket too which is always a win. In fact it's much more convenient than the more expensive Galaxy Ace that I've just acquired to replace it with! If it wasn't for the fact I'd changed to a new provider now that my Orange contract has finally expired, I might well have stuck with this phone to be honest. However the price of unlocking it to another network wasn't worth doing in my opinion.

The home screen on this little phone is a compact version of the standard Samsung home screens. It's customisable in that you can put your favourite widgets and shortcuts on there, and there's enough space for a handful of these. At the bottom of the screen there are keypad, phonebook and message shortcuts - perfect for what I use my phone for the most. Making a call or sending a message was always quick and easy to do with this phone. I found I had ample storage space for my messages on here too, and a convenient 'delete all' option for when I wanted a clear out. The phone book is also good, with the ability to store multiple numbers to each contact. Great for those friends you have home, mobile and work numbers for!

The touchscreen on this is excellent quality and where Samsung excel in my opinion. It's got no more than a few surface scratches to it after months of being slung around in my handbag with no cover on, and it remains as responsive and accurate to use as the day I bought it.

I also found the alarm system good, with the ability to program more than one alarm proving very useful. I didn't think much to the MP3 capabilities though as I found I couldn't store much on here, even with the included micro SD card. I had my ring tone MP3 file and that was about it!

The only real downside to this phone was that I once again could not reliably access the internet. I declined to accept background data charges as I wanted to use this phone with wifi only for the most part, to avoid any unexpected shocking bills. My phone just did not like this though, as soon as I'd declined to accept data charges, my internet applications did not want to work. My facebook page would appear as of a date near to when I first got the phone but refuse to refresh or update. I could use the main internet page, but searching for anything (like a phone number or street address) took a ridiculously long time. It was like being on dial up internet again!

I wouldn't let my experience with the internet put anyone off buying this phone though, it may just be that I was unlucky because of the options and settings I chose. There are now capped SIMs out there, I just got one from Tesco, so if you're worried about data usage then you could accept the background data settings and the like without worrying about being hit with an unexpected bill.

For the price this phone served me extremely well, much better than a phone worth four times as much had served me. I found it light, convenient and very easy to use. I'm actually kind of sad to be using a chunky Galaxy Ace in it's place now!

Buy it if you want a simple touch screen phone

I brought this a few years ago, and loved it so much that 6 months after buying it unfortunatly my phone got stolen, and I brought the exact same phone again, this one.

The touch screen is nothing compared to apple and the latest touch screen phones, but it easily does the job. Its very easy to use and the different displays are easy to scroll through.

Its very durable with me both dropping it down the toilet and down the stairs with no damage at all luckily. The camera is very good and battery life lasts for a long time. Such a good phone for such a small price its well worth getting, it wont compete with the top of the range phones but thats because of the cheap price!

The only negative thing i have to say about it is that fact that it has specalised headphones for it, not the usual 2.5 mm headphone jack. Which is annoying if you lose the headphones as theyre quite expensive to replace even on ebay!!

If you need a temporary phone for any reason. head here

I have been though many phones in my time. Im currently on my second iphone ( I blame the Washing machine), but my tocco light has always been there to pick up the pieces. Ive owned the same one nearly three years now and its in full working order. A testament that phones can still be "built to last".

The Tocco lite also contains the longest phone battery i have ever witnessed. With light use you can expect it to last just over a week before needing charging making it ideal to take to festivals and other places where your everyday phone may be at risk.

Internals wise the tocco lite contains a surprising amount of power, it boasts full internet connectivity with only minor tweaks to pages to make them readable. The cameras quality is better then the screen can display so don't be put off if your photos look off when testing out this phone. they will look much better on facebook.

While it may not have access to an app store or have all of the high end features that most modern phones have. The tocco lite is one of the best budget phones out there.

        Great phone for basic functions!

I first bought a Samsung Tocco Lite at Christmas 2009, it's a fantastic phone if you only need it for basic functions (i.e. calling, texting). It has a clear intuitive interface so is easy to use for people of all abilities. However, it is probably not suitable for anyone who wants to be able to use up to date functions as it is not a smartphone, you have to be prepared for it to run a lot slower than new models.

Despite this, I found that the phone lasted a long time - it has only just started to slow down after 3 years of heavy use. The battery life was always good lasting me between 2 and 4 days from when I bought it to now which is much better than any of the latest phones. The screen is bright and easy to see in sunshine, and the touch screen is very sensitive (however, doesn't require you to be using a finger/skin to touch it which could increase the likelihood of pocket dials!).

If seriously considering getting this phone, I would recommend getting a case or a screen cover, this is because I found it is really easy to scratch and once damaged it is harder to read the screen, especially in bright light, however, if looked after properly it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Amazing value for money, does all the basics and so easy to use. This will last for years!

I bought the Samsung tocco lite back in 2009, at the time it did everything i needed it had a bright, responsive screen, a fairly decent camera and widgets for social networking apps. It had a very small in-phone memory but i bought a memory card and that solved that problem! It lasted me for two years and was still in perfect working order when i replaced it with the HTC wildfire in 2011. What a mistake that was! After three months i dropped my HTC the screen shattered and when i took it into car phone warehouse i was told it would cost around £100 to fix, so i went back to my faithful tocco. I have dropped this phone countless times, on the pavement, in the shower even into a bath and it still works! The touchscreen lags slightly nowadays which i think is due to the water damage but aside from that it remains as good as new. It also has a high battery life i can go about 3 days without having to charge it unless i am playing excessive amounts of games or music.

If you're looking for a top of the range high-tech smartphone, this isn't it, but if you want something that looks great, does all the basics and little more and will last for years to come then i would 100% recommend this phone!

It's simple to use, anyone can get to grips with it making it perfect for any age group or as a first-touchscreen phone it is also great value for money i think it only costs around £50.00 now - Bargain!

        Disadvantages

Not fancy by any means, but still a great phone packed with fun

The Tocco Lite is a great little phone - if it's what you're looking for. I have no real interest in splashing hundreds of pounds on the most up to date handset with it to be suddenly scond class some weeks later, but if you are in to this, the Tocco isn't for you.

The Tocco has an effective touchscreen. It is nowhere near the calibre of the iPhone, and nor do I expect it to be, but I fuond it perfectly easy to use.

The widgets (simple features that can be added to the home screen of your phone) include a music player, a facebook link, birthday reminder, note pad, clock, alarm, calendar and caller id widgets, amongst others. You can have them all open, or none! They simply are dragged from the left hand column onto the home screen backdrop to be used, and simply dragged back to the left hand column to be removed.

The home screen features a 3 page format - allowing you to keep different widgets on different pages (for example a clock on one, a calendar on another and a music player on another). You can of course put multiple widgets on the same page.

The menu is easily accessed and features a simple layout of functions eg 'messages' and 'settings'. The buttons are spaced well apart, and I have not once had a problem with accidently hitting the wrong feature. After owning my phone for over a year i have however had to be firmer with my touchscreen. I don't find this an issue, personally.

Apart from this decrease in touch screen sensitivity, I have found the phone to last through all sorts of conditions (including being submerged in water for ten minutes - yes, I'm shocked it still works too!).

The internet is poor in comparison to smartphones of 2012, running slowly in a completely different format to the actual sites or even recognisable mobile sites. If you wish to do a lot of internet browsing, I would not buy this phone.

The camera is pretty poor quality too in comparison to others - though I suppose I am now comparing this poor phone to the likes of the iPhone 5.

The music player is average (suitable for the phone) and can hold around 9 songs. I'd recommend buying a memory card to allow you more space for music, photos, videos and contacts and increasing this to tens if not hundreds of songs.

Texting, calling and picture messaging are all very easy to do, and there's even a 'fake call' feature in which you can push a button to call yourself at an awkward moment!

The Tocco Lite includes all the basics such as world clock, alarm, calculator weight and length conversions, games, call log, phonebook and settings features.

I still enjoy my Tocco Lite, though I have ultiamtely positioned it as my 'emergency' phone for use when my other is dead or i am going somewhere where my phone may be lost. I use an iPod Touch for quick internet access and a camera for photography.

The Tocco Lite would be great as a first time phone - it's not the best, it's not even fancy - but it is fun, durable and has a great set of features (despite their quality in comparison to today's phones).

Okay for a first phone I suppose.

I got this phone a couple of years ago, I bought it when I first got into the whole mobile phone craze and got it on a 2 year contract very stupidly with talkmobile. Now this phone at first seems alright, but its just a huge pain to use, even after getting used to it.

It took me a while to learn all the features of this phone and how to use it quickly and I was not impressed with its performance, it lagged, and the touch screen, the touch screen is instead of heat sensitive its pressure sensitive, so theres no touch typing, you have to hit the buttons and push down for the screen to register, which gets annoying very fast.

The internal memory on this phone fills up very fast and I find without a memory card (if you can even get one?) I can only have a maximum of 250 messages on this phone, the battery life is poor also.

        Would not recommend to anyone

I brought this phone to replace my broken blackberry and i was excited about using it, but even on the first day i got it i was disappointed.

The tocco lite has a stripey colourful vibrant back on the phone which draws you into the phone as most phones they are your bog standard colour, when you are on the home screen you have 3 different homepage pictures you can choose from just by touching the screen and flicking it across until you find the one that you want to set it on and the homepage also has widgets set down the side so they are easy to get to for example if you wanted to find out someones birthday just touch the calendar widget and move it in the middle of the screen and it will open up the calendar for you. You can also change the widget to what you want.

When you go into the main menus on screen that also has 3 different pages you can choose from and that has more apps on so you could say there are alot of apps to look at. The phone can be held upright or turned to the side and the display will rotate with you. It looks very stylish, sleek and easy to use.

After using the phone for a couple of hours and changing the widgets on my homepage, looking at the apps, texting, phoning friends and messaging people i soon noticed the disadvantages, you cant actually put your phone on silent (it says you can) but it actually still vibrates through the night if you recieve a message which is really loud and annoying, to write a standard text message is so difficult because its touch screen the letters on display are the smallest letters ever so when you want a particular letter you end up touching five extra letters than what you wanted.. if you like using your phone to go on social media sites this one is no good to do that, the screen is so small you have to enlarge what your looking at or reading and end up pressing things that you dont want to go on.

The phone doesnt have 3G or wifi and the bluetooth just doesnt connect to other phones and like most phones you can use voice dialling where as this phone doesnt have that option. The camera is very easy to use but the pictures are blurry. I also found when i wanted to go onto a widget or app and i touched the icon to get onto it, it wouldnt register that i had touched it and had to do it about three or four times which is never good!!

I had to change back to blackberry after using this and it was a waste of time using it, im glad i didnt keep it for very long!!

You should definitely buy this amazing product because of it's great design and because of how much stuff you can do and complete on it! You can call and message people at ease and comfort without having to click lots of buttons and mess around!

Where can I purchase the Samsung Tocco Lite from?

You can usually obtain this fantastic phone from Amazon and many internet based selling sites! I've looked in Curry's and Comet but can't seem to find the Samsung Tocco Lite anywhere! Maybe if you look around and ask you might be able to come across it!

This phone is definitely worth having near you because of the amazing features that it has and the fantastic things that you can do on it!
