Advantages: So Many Options its almost a computer
Disadvantages: ariel bit chunky other than that nothing
In the last year Siemens have really jumped into the phone market. It may not have as many phone models in the market as Nokia but I do believe within the next year it will most certainly be up at the top next to Motorola and Eriksson etc. Siemens’ first real popular model was the C25, it was available in bright blue maybe not quite everyone’s piece of cake but it was also available in black. The C25 really hit the market with the “compose a melody” option, which allows the user to compose a melody of their choice. There were still a few problems with the original C25, was it too boxy?? It may have been a small model but was it too chunky??? The LCD display on the front looked very cheap and with the release of the Nokia 3210 and even with previous Nokia models Siemens had a problem if they really wanted to compete at the top. I used to have an Orange Bosche phone which I bought about a year ago. It was a good phone for me at the time but as I got older and started being more practical I really wanted a new phone which would have more options relevant to my needs. It was in October of last year when I approached the phone retailer in my town. I was willing to spend about £100. Their two phones in which the service assistant showed me were the Nokia 3210 and the Siemens C35. Knowing that the 3210 are a popular phone within the student population I almost bought it up front but I decided not too. I decided to take away two leaflets regarding information on both phones. Having read both leaflets and doing some background research I then had a different picture in my mind. The Siemens C35 had so many new options upgraded from the C25. There was no competition it had to be the Siemens C35. Since Buying the C35. I have had no regrets the phone itself is gorgeous the options are fantastic and I believe it is much better than the Nokia’s 3210. Great options include WAP, Melody composer, office options including an appoint
ments diary and a currency conv. And many more. Superb new LCD display – Siemens have spent a lot of time researching and producing this LCD display. It is fantastic. It has a reception meter, Battery meter, Date and time, in the bottom corners it has options relating to the buttons directly underneath them. In the bottom right corner is the link to the menu. In the bottom left corner is a link originally to the Internet but can be changed to anything within the phones menu! Internet – I think that the Internet will be in every phone at the turn of the year. It is a really great option. You can make a list of your favourite sites, which is great as it allows you to visit you r favourite sites really quickly. You can link to a site by typing in its address. This allows you to be able to visit any site, which is superb. The great thing about WAP is you can access news and information quickly, which is absolutely great. Compose A Melody – There are many sites on the Internet, which have Siemens ring tones. One thing, which would be good if you could do, would be to access these sites within the WAP and download the tones straight onto your phone. To compose the melody you use the keys which have letters representing the notes, # changes the tone and * changes the number of the note. It is such a good option and allows you to have your own personal ring tone from The Simpson’s to the Pink Panther. I think this is a major option to anyone when they are buying a phone, not that they should only gat a phone where you can make your ring tones but I do think it will attract people to the phone. Office and Fun – Yes the Siemens C35 does have games, they may not be as good as snakes but they are still games!!! They include “way-out” which is a maze in which you must escape your time is recorded in it is put into the top scores list! This game is quite fun but only when you are bored. There are three
mazes in all, which I have memorized so the aim of the game for me is how quickly can I get to the end!!!! The game itself is still a bit of a laugh though. Quattropoli, which is, really connect 4 in which you play against the computer. This game is probably the best, it is quite fun and the computer is a challenge. Minesweeper, which is the same as the PC game, which is a good game when you know how to play. The last game is reversi, which I must admit I never ever play so trust me when I say it is rubbish because it is. Office Options – These include calculator, which is easy to use and quite nifty in situations. Appointments, in which you set a date and time and your tones rings when the time you set has arrived, this option is a good reminder if you have an important meeting to attend to, you can also write a message on it which flashes when the phone rings. Currency conv. Simply allows you to check the currency in different countries. It also has a chronometer, which I think is a great option as it allows you to use a stopwatch, you will never sleep through your alarm again as it also has an alarm clock. Phone Book – The phone book hold 99 numbers, which is great as it allows you to store all your friends and families numbers. There is a VIP section for all your important numbers, which are quick to get to. I like that feature, as you don’t have to search your phone book constantly. A thing siemens could have added in could have been a search where you can search for a name when you type in initials. You can also put calling symbols in for fun, which is good as it brightens up your phone. It has all the obvious options e.g. text messaging, this comes with T9 predictive texting which is super for those long words; it allows you to type text messages really quick. It has calling records, time/charge, divert and phone setup. The disappointing thing with this phones maybe the fact it has a little chunky Ariel.
With most the phones now without them it is a little behind. However the colour is improved since the C25, it is nice and slim and the buttons are great too. I don’t think interchangeable faces are an option because of the overall curve of the phone. The battery life is also super charging quickly and lasting for days. Overall I give this phone 90% and would recommend it to a friend.

- 27/02/01 I love the C35i. I've only had mine for three months, but it's certainly better than the 3210.
I would still probably go for Nokia's WAP offerings (I think it's the 8210, the top model) over the C35i though I have to say - it's just that I had to pay extra if I wanted one of those, whereas the C35i was mine for free. I'm more than happy with it anyway. |
