Advantages: good WAP browser
Disadvantages: gets worn down quickly, SMS memory of 10, woeful battery life
Having gone through my mobile phone life with Nokias, a year ago i felt that it was time for a change and the Siemens seemed like good value as it looked good and had the added feature of WAP. After a year i knew my phone would look bulky and out of date but i still expected it to work.
I am a big texter and send in excess of 500 texts a month, however after about three months the phones buttons started to show excessive wear and also the buttons needed a firm press in order for them to work. After about eight months the phone decided to intermittently stall, and if your half way through a text this is very annoying as you have to take the battery out to start the phone again, and of course not only is your message deleted the phone saves a blank message in its measaly 10 sms memory.
Its new trick is now pretending that i have a hands free kit so i can't hear any phone calls.
The phone at first seems like a feature filled phone it has WAP, which actually is good, and not as tempramental as other WAP browsers i've heard about as you get connected about 85% of the time. It has an appointments section, a calculator, a currency convertor, four games :- the old pc owners favourite minesweeper, wayout a maze game, quattropoli a connect four game, and reversi which is a bit like checkers i think. There is also a stopwatch on the phone.
The message capabilities are limited, the phone does have T9 technology, it predicts which word you mean to type, but there is only an SMS memory of 10 which is very annoying.
The only other feature on this phone worth note is the ring tone composer. Quite a lot of sites have the key in codes for well known songs, however unlike the nokias you have to type them in and you can't download them straight to your phone, however i have Faithless we come one as my ring tone and it does sound very good.
I must also point out the shocking battery life thta the phone has. From day one the battery only gave me a
bout two days of standby time and now i'm lucky if i get a day with it on standby. If i make a call over 10 minutes it dies, and if i'm texting constantly it'll not last the day.
In summing up i would say stay well clear of this phone unless you are getting it as purely a two month stop gap phone, some nice features and loud tones are ruined by shawdy construction. Get a nokia for the changable covers, downloadable ringtones and icons, features, and overal lastablility
