Advantages: Good media player and reliability now I have updated firmware.
Disadvantages: GPS not a good reason to buy.
I've had this phone for about 6 or 7 months now. I had it as an upgrade on O2 free of charge.
It is very robust and has lasted well. I don't tend to go heavy on my phones but the last few Sony Ericssons I've had have been a little too flimsy and fragile. This one is much better and the anti-dust shield has worked wonders compared to previous phones I've had. The screen and camera both have remained completely clear.
On O2 the phone is flashed with their own software and out of the box it was terrible! I needed to update the firmware via the SE website as the phone crashed constantly and had poor battery life and froze when you pressed 2 buttons before it had completed the 1st operation. Since the update the phone has been perfect and not missed a beat.
Media player
I bought a new 4gb memory card and the phone is a decent although not perfect replacement for a MP3 player.
Camera
The camera is not the best and I wosh I had gone for the 5MP SE phone that was similar but had no GPS.
GPS
The GPS is poor poor poor! It takes ages to find a signal, eats the battery and needs constant data connection to work off of Google maps. Certainly not worth buying for this feature, unfortunately I did :-(
The only thing I would really critcise is the button config of the main keys. My fingers are quite large but I've never had the same probs as I do with this phone especially with texts and when trying to make calls quickly.
The main call / hang up buttons are surrounded by very small function keys which I regularly hit by accident. Shame they aren't just a little better spread out.
Summary: An ok phone that could have been just a bit better.

- 18/02/09 Not a bad start here but don't forget that some people like to know how well this works as a phone. |
