Advantages: Nice design, well built

Disadvantages: A bit old-fashioned now

The G502 is another small, lightweight addition to the Sony Ericsson range of business-oriented mobiles.

I say business-oriented, it's certainly no substitute for a Blackberry or other smartphone, but it's aimed more at the business user than the SE Walkman range, for example.

Basic features include:

Quite large colour screen
3G/UMTS network
SMS/MMS
Push email
Organiser/Calendar
PC sync (although my company doesn't support this feature for some reason)
2 megapixel camera (with video capture)
mp3 player
It also has a built-in FM radio and you can play games on it (essential for the travelling businessman...or maybe not).
Mobile Internet

Style:
It's a a smart looking, small & light phone and it looks suitably classy to not be embarrassed when using it for business. In fact, although it's a little 'vanilla', it's quite a nice looking phone, available in black/silver, silver/brown or red/black. The black/silver model being the most business-like option.

Build quality:
The usual excellent Sony Ericsson build quality. The keypad feels a little plasticky but nothing feels overly fragile and there are no obvious build quality problems, as I've come to expect from owning several SE phones in the past. I've now had the phone for over one year and it has no scratches, nothing is loose and everything works as well as the day I got it.

User-friendliness:
It feels old and clunky compared to the iPhone, but compared to similar phones from other manufacturers, the SE menu system is clear and simple to use. It gives access to all of the commonly used features and it won't take long to get used to at all. There are a number of short-cut options which can be customised to suit your own tastes.

Overall:
A nice phone, with good battery life. I'd say it's excellent value for money (I don't quote prices because they vary so much depending on contracts, etc.) and I'm happy to have it as a work phone but I'm not sure I'd buy it as a personal phone as there are definitely better phones out there, be it other SEs or some of the better Nokias, but it's not bad at all.
