Advantages: Loads of fun features

Disadvantages: cant store much music

I've owned my Sony Ericsson K510i for over two years now and I decided to share my experiences of using this phone before I upgrade.

This is from Sony Ericssons K or Kamera range, a partial cyber shot phone which has now been surpassed in quality by the C range.

I chose this phone because of its 1.3 mega pixel camera. The camera is great to have when you are out and about, the photos come up clearly on the screen and are easy to transfer onto the computer. I have used these photos for things like ebay listings or sending to friends. The quality is great in daylight but despite the night shoot mode photos are not clear in the dark. Photos are good quality when printed out when you have used the standard camera but less so when you have used the 4 times digital zoom.

The photo DJ tool allows you to add things like borders or change the effects on your pictures. It allows you to store around 100 photos. It also has face warp which allows you to make charictitures of photos, a fun little extra. I've just tried it out by turning myself into a professor, alien and making my nose huge!

The phone also boasts a video camera allowing you to take short videos. Both picture and audio playback are clear.

This is not a music phone, it has limited storage (and no room for a memory card) so you are limited in how much sound you can store. There is still enough memory to regularly change ringtones and the sound has always been great quality.

It is easy to navigate through the menu buttons using the joystick. The main feature I have used is the alarm clock which allows you to set two alarms on a regular or one off basis.

Internet access is provided but I only tried it a couple of times and found it slow to load, it's not a feature I would use anyway.

You can even use the K510i as a phone. It makes and recieves calls and texts. I love the fact I can add photos of my loved (or loathed) ones into my phone book and their faces flash up on screen when they phone me.

Connecting to your computer is easy thanks to the software and USB cable supplied. You can connect with other phones via infrared or bluetooth.

The only niggles I have with this phone are the relatively small memory and the fact that the diary application does not remind you of events like appointments until they actually happen, telling me I have a dentists appointment when I am meant to be there is not much use.

This phone has been really reliable, the only time I've had a problem is when my phone was so overloaded with pictures and videos that it ran really slowly and deleting some of my files fixed that.

The phone has lasted well, over two years. The only problem I have with it now is it is hard to charge sometimes (might just be because the charging port is dirty) and its looking a bit bashed and tired. I use it daily and it just gets chucked into my bag with all my junk. I like this phone so much that I have even considered buying the same model again and certainly want another Sony Ericsson for my new phone.

Because of its age the K510i is available for as little as £30 these days. It's a great wee phone which is easy to use and has some fun features. If you are one of the people who doesnt need all the latest gizmos and just want a good reliable choice for a bargain price then this would be a great buy.

Summary: a great wee phone
