Advantages: Excellent build quality, packed with useful features, easy to use and the BEST camera!
Disadvantages: Call volume a little too low, operating system prone to locking, ringtone choice poor
Having sampled the K700i and S700i the K750i seems very familier and indeed it does share a lot with the afore mentionioned handsets. BUT the K750i is without doubt the daddy of cell phone handsets at the moment.
I won't go into lots of technical detail here because there are lots of websites publishing that sort of stuff, but suffice to say the K750 is a wonderful peice of kit with just a few minor niggles! So lets get those out of the way first..
1. The operating system on this handset does sometimes struggle to keep up when fast texting and was prone to lock up totally when the camera was in use. Maybe its an early software problem but it shouldn't be there on such a much hyped phone.
2. The range of themes and ringtones supplied with the handset are real disappointment. I presume thats cos SE want you to download some more from their website but the pre-installed ones are pants.
3. The volume on the earphone and speakerphone could do with being a bit louder. I had it on full all the time and found it too quiet.
4. I am a big Bluetooth user and need a phone to perform faultlessly when I'm in the car. Most of the time the K750i was OK but it occasionally dropped the bluetooth connection with my headset. The voice dial facility was a bit hit-n-miss too at times.
So, there we are, the bad points over with which just leaves the good bits!!!
Now I don't really see the need for a camera on a phone, after all a phone is for making phone calls and texting, BUT the one on the K750i is as near perfect as I've come across. With good lighting conditions the colour, focus and resolution are all superb and definately better than the S700i! In-doors the system does struggle a bit but still gives top notch results. The rest of the phones feature list all worked well too with the RDS stereo radio a particular favourite of mine when I'm whileing away the hours in my hotel room. The built-in games are good too, particularly the 'Aero Mission' 3D shoot 'em up flight game...hours of fun!
As I said at the beginning of this review, the K750i is definately the daddy of mobiles at the moment and it will sell like hot cakes this summer. If I was spending my hard earned on a phone I think I would hang on for some of the up-coming Nokia's but if you have to buy a phone right now then the Sony K750i will take some beating especially if you value your phones camera!
Summary: Go buy it!
