Advantages: Good looking, clear and functional menus, decent mp3 playback

Disadvantages: The images saved are not the ones you took!

An easy-to-use, good quality phone from Sony. However, I must point out a major problem with the built-in camera. When taking a photo, there is a 0.5 - 1 second gap between the photo you take and the image that gets stored! Naturally, people pose for a photo and then break the pose immediately they hear the shutter pressed and go back to whatever they were doing. But it's this that gets captured by the camera! I have lots of photos of people walking away or turning their heads - NOT GOOD! I thought this might be an error in my particular phone, but Sony's newer model, with the 3.2 Mpixel camera, still has the same fault!

That aside, the overall quality of the phone cannot be questioned. The menu system is easy to use (if not as 'natural' as a Nokia) and the assignable shortcuts are genuinely useful. The alarm clock section (always handy!) never fails to wake me up, especially if you use the 'increasing volume' mode. Although I don't use the phone for mp3 playback on a daily basis, I have tested it against my dedicated mp3 player and found the quality to be more than good enough.

In terms of reliabilty I've found it OK - the phone does 'lock up' on the odd occasion, but a quick off and on seems to solve any of these problems which seem to be inherent in most phones (I've had the same problem with Nokias and Samsungs.)

The software that comes with the phone is very feature-heavy yet easy to use, and Sony even have a phone operating system upgrade feature which shows their commitment to after-sales service.

Another plus point is the look and styling of the phone: it's good-looking in a business-like way, the screen is large, bright and clear, the keypad is accessible to even the largest fingers and it's solidly built.
At the end of the day, it's a functional mobile phone, but a very good one. I certainly have no qualms about upgrading to the next model as soon as my contract allows me.

Summary: Decent phone, easy to use but major bug in the camera function
