Disadvantages: Too technical for me personally.Don't like the exposed screen/keypad
Warning / Disclaimer:
This review of the Sony Ericsson K750i is not going to be very technical, as that is not my area of expertise to be honest. If you are looking for a review that contains technical expertise and understanding, you will want to "look away now !"
This is going to be about my experience as a user of this phone, as someone who has no idea about what's hot and what's not, where mobile phones are concerned. I am a busy mum and a bit of a Luddite, and my phone is usually at the deepest depths of a very large handbag:
All I have a mobile phone for is to have a basic means of communication if and when I need it, and that's it: So, all the similarly minded people out there, this is the review for you!
I didn't actually pay any money for this phone, I actually 'inherited ' it from my other half, who received it free as part of a now-defunct contract package. This is how uninterested I am, I am happy to receive old cast-off's. :)
My main area of use of my mobile phone is for texting. I find this phone great for that, simple and user friendly, but in common with most of the new mobiles, the buttons are probably quite small and fiddly for a person with larger or fatter fingers.
I am not to keen on the fact that, when a text comes through, the first couple of lines of it are displayed on the screen , before you have even opened it: meaning that everyone and anyone can see what's in your text message, so it's not too hot on privacy.
As I don't use a case , it's important to me that this phone has an easily lockable keypad, as the keypad is constantly exposed.
My second area of use is making and receiving calls, and again, this is easy to operate, but I find that I cannot alter the settings to allow the phone to ring for long enough. This would be fine for someone who constantly has their phone next to them, or on a string around their neck, but anyone like me, who is constantly dealing with 10 other things at once and keeps the phone in the bottom of a handbag, needs longer to get to it!
The camera is operated by sliding open the back of the camera to reveal the lens, I must admit I preferred my old clam style phone for this as I found it easier to point-and-click.
I haven't taken so many pictures with this phone, because I find that the camera tends to store them in about 3 different folders and I never know how to find them again without a load of hassle.
It does have Bluetooth however, and when *you download your photos to the computer, they are of very good quality.
*(that would actually be 'when you get someone else to dowload your photos to the computer' lol )
I haven't ever got around to trying the radio function or the music player function, as I find it too fiddly to try and work it out, so I can't comment on that.
Oh dear, I am sounding very down on this phone, and reading through a couple of the other reviews, I know that's not the popular opinion, but that's my honest experience: It may be a great phone for someone with a different lifestyle to me, but for me personally, I will be glad to change to something else to be honest.
Someone who enjoys technology and having lots of options on their phone will love this, but that's not me.
Summary: A great phone for someone who can work out how to operate it :)

- 21/02/09 I appreciate the non-technical reviews far more than the technical ones. One thing I think you might want to mention is how well people can hear you and how well you can hear people who call you. That would make this more useful for me. |
