A couple of years or so ago I was looking for a new phone. I probably didn't need a new phone, but instead just fancied getting a new one... the usual thing! Over the years, I've always gone for Nokia phones, but this time there were 2 phones I quite liked and neither was a Nokia, instead both phones were Sony Ericssons. The first I only fancied because I'm a Robbie Williams fan and they'd brought out a limited edition W300i complete with Robbie logo and content.... The other was the K750i, which I bought.

At the time, the Sony Ericsson K750i cost me £125 with a T-Mobile Pay-As-You-Go SIM card from Carphone Warehouse. They'd got a black one, a silver one and a red one, but I went with the black (which has a silver edge to it).

The phone size is 100 x 46 x 20mm and fits perfectly in my hands. It isn't truly 20mm wide, it's just the camera cover on the back which makes part of the phone as wide as 20mm (2cm). The camera cover on the back is one of the reasons why I picked this phone... It simply slides down to reveal the little camera lens (with 2 mega pixels, auto focus and 4x digital zoom). As soon as the lens cover is opened, the camera function is automatically activated and the phone's screen shows the picture on it (just press the shutter button to take a photo or start a video), then once it is closed the camera function is turned off (this happens whether or not you have the keypad locked... which is handy should you want to take a quick photo).

The phone's keypad and mini-joystick are easy to use (without hitting the wrong button) as is the phone's menu. The menu is simple... 12 icons show up on the screen when the menu is activated and it automatically hovers on Messaging. You can use the little joystick to simply navigate to your preferred icon and either click the joystick to select your icon or use the select button. The menu icons are easy enough to work out what they stand for, but the phone also names the icon you're on just in case.

The phone has a media player for videos and music, and also makes use of music ringtones (for example, I currently have Take That's "Rule The World" as my ring tone). It also makes use of the PlayNow (TM) feature to download music & games. It can connect to devices via Bluetooth and Infrared, as well as synchronising with a PC.

Messaging options include text messaging (SMS), picture messaging (MMS) and email - Predictive text input can be used, but I prefer not to us it!

I often make use of the Notes application on the phone when I'm out & about and I use the Alarm function on a daily basis (to wake me up in time for work!). The calculator function is also useful when out & about.

Another function I've found quite useful on this phone is one I wouldn't normally expect a phone to have... The phone's camera flash doubles up as a torch! It can be used in a few different settings including to send an SOS message or simply as a normal torch. The light may only be small, but it's certainly bright and I wouldn't advise looking straight at it!

You can also access the internet with this phone, but I wouldn't advise it on a PAYG plan as it can eat up your credit quickly.

I've found the battery life to be long lasting (certainly longer than my previous Nokia phones) with up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of standby time.

Even a couple of years after buying this phone I've been complimented on how good it looks. I must admit that I'm still impressed with it and I'm not even considering buying a new phone as I've no need to. This phone looks good and does what it says it does. In the past my mobile phone has only lasted me a year or 2 before I've replaced it for one reason or other, but I won't be replacing this one any time soon. I dropped it in a supermarket car park 6 months ago and feared the worst, but when I picked it up and inspected it it still worked fine and the only damage done was a minute dent on the base, but it really is tiny.

So, with this phone being robust, still looking good after a couple of years and having plenty of features, I won't be getting a new phone any time soon. I would recommend the Sony Ericsson K750i anytime.
