Advantages: Good looks, sleek, easy to use, excellent camera.
Disadvantages: Sometimes does what it wants to in the same way that all Sony Ericssons eventually do.
I have owned my violet Sony Ericsson k770i for over a year now. I bought it initially as an orange-locked phone from the internet, but it turned out to be sim free, and as a result I am now using it on an excellent sim-only contract with three!
The first thing you notice about the phone is its striking appearance. It has chromed keys and a nice chrome outline to compliments the metallic purple which is reminiscent of a cadbury's dairy milk- everyone seems to comment on its lovely appearance. It has an incredibly smooth and pleasing profile, nice to fit in your hand and discreet in your pocket with a very good balance and weight to it; not too small that you forget it's there in your pocket but not too big that it's a burden (read: iphone). The background and preset theme on the phone is also purple and i've had the same purple spinning clock theme on since I bought the phone.
The phone is very easy to use, with simple menus and a pleasing subtle vibrating feedback as you scroll through the main menu, which isn't annoying like on other phones. The features are excellent, with full 3G, all the standard amenities, conference calling and a surprisingly good cyber-shot 3.2 megapixel camera. Snaps taken with this are easily good enough for facebook and just about good enough for eg. laptop wallpapers and desktop backgrounds.
It's functioned well despite being dropped a couple of times on my carpet from tripping over the charger, and functions as it did out of the box to date. Battery life is very good, with a full charge lasting about 3 or 4 days. Texting is eminently pleasant and the predictive text software on the phone is cool, with it attempting to predict your next words based on previous messages.
Storage is good, with capacity for an 8GB M2 card. I've not managed to fill it yet, because I have an ipod, but the sound quality through the (included) headphones is good enough, were I to want to. The phone speaker is average as all phone speakers are.
My only real gripes with it are that it went through a week of deciding not to vibrate after a concert, but that fixed itself after a week- might have been the very rough treatment. Also it sometimes scares me by saying "memory card corrupt, please format" and not allowing me to access my pictures, but this is remedied by simply turning the phone off and on again.
All in all, the best £80 i've ever spent on a phone. The camera is just excellent, the texting is great, call quality is good, internet is fast, it was cheap, it's still modern despite being slightly dated nowadays and most of all it still draws comments for its beautiful appearance!
Summary: Brilliant phone, I would buy it again in an instant.
