Advantages: Exceptional camera and zoom, great all round features
Disadvantages: Joystick sticks after 6 months or so, sensitive internet key
I've had many mobiles over the years but for the first 6 months this was by far the best. After the initial 6 months the phone has let me down in several ways, first the good points.
The camera is by far superior to any other i've ever owned and in some cases the quality seems to be better than my digital camera (yes it needs updating but still). The useability of the phone is fantastic and the joystick was initially a fantastic feature. This phone also has bluetooth - my old sony ericsson didn't - and i'd be completely lost without it.
The phone comes in two different colours, black and silver. I opted for the silver one but it's all about personal taste and i thought this one was rather stylish.
The phone has a decent amount of memory for any average phone user, but it has the advantage of an expandable memory slot for those who love listening to their music and are photo obsessed (like me).
The built in music player isn't the best i've seen, but then this isn't one of the walkman phones that sony ericsson have created so i wouldn't expect otherwise. However, saying that i no longer take my ipod out with me on every occasion as i find the phone just as good and less to carry!
The k800i also comes with a number of games included and other games are very easy to download to the phone - Sony ericsson are a popular manufacturer so there are hundreds of games compatable.
A couple of problems i found very early on with the phone was the camera slides open very easily in your bag or pocket and i found myself taking hundreds of pictures of nothing - very annoying when you have to trail through to delete them all.
The other problem is the sensitivity of the internet key. I don't know how many times i've left my phone, come back and found it connected to the internet and my balance down by several pounds. It's also very easy to hit this key when using other features of the phone.
After the first 6 or so months the joystick started to stick and then would go in the opposite direction from where you were moving it to. This is extremely annoying as i'm addicted to phone games on bus journeys etc and it became unusable. I have however found the solution to this - keep the phone in a warm place and it's fine. I think the joystick must have problems when it gets below a certain temperature - very bizarre. Considering i live in Scotland it's definately not ideal!
When it comes to the price of the phone i paid £100 - this is around about the usual amount for me to spend on a phone. For this amount the phone was definately value for money, in fact i'd probably have paid twice the price.
Overall i think this is an amazing phone and i can definately put up with the few niggles, such as the internet key and camera opening when you least expect it. It has all the usual features you would expect on a mobile - calendar, calculator, music, games etc
Summary: Amazing phone with even better features than you would expect.
