This phone certainly looks great (which is mainly the reason I bought it) but the quality is awful! After only about 3 weeks after buying it two of the keys on the phone split through the middle!

As I've said is is a beautiful looking phone which can be bought in four colours, green (which is the one I have) yellow, purple and copper. It's very slim and very glossy. I don't normally like the wallpapers that come with phones but I found that the wallpapers that came with this phone were actually quite nice! I love the fact that the background will change according to what time it is or what the season is. The lights are also great. When you slide open the phone or when somebody calls you, there are lighting affects, which are again seasonal.

The features are good to.
Some of the features include a 2 megapixel camera (which you can also take videos with), a music player, a sound recorder and an optional memory card so you can store up to 250 songs.
The phone is also quad band so it can be used anywhere in the world.
There is a flight mode and has personal organiser functions. EDGE makes internet access fast with email and RSS feeds.
The 2 megapixel camera is satisfactory but with no flash and no autofocus, it's a bit of a let-down.
The music player is good quality which supports bluetooth headsets & compatible headphones. The 12 Mbytes built-in memory is small and only a few songs can be stored on the phone, but as I've said, you can buy a memory card for the phone which will store up to 250 songs.
Transferring files with the phone and computer is simple and all you need to do is drag and drop.

The keypad is completely flat which makes texting hard. As I said after about three weeks two of the keys had cracked. The crack was quite literally right in the middle of the keys. When the keys on the phone cracked, I looked on the internet to see if anyone else had had the same problem. I found that there were lots of people whose keys had cracked. I don't text a lot, I normally just phone so I was surprised to see that the keys had cracked. You can still use the keys when they've cracked but it didn't make the fact the keys had split any better.

The phone measures 99 x 47 x 14 mm and weighs 94g.

Overall I think that just because of the poor quality of the phone, the Sony Ericsson S500i is not worth it.

There's some very good information here, especially about the problem with the keys, but I think this review really should say more about how this works as a phone.

Having recently got a great upgrade deal but no new handset I'm looking at phones to buy, will avoid this one.
